Parental Coaching

Why do parents need to learn how to be parents?

Because no one taught us growing up or at any point in our lives, the skills we need to raise children in the most supportive, effective and stress free ways.

We get flung into a role that we have never trained for and we learn by doing – often making mistakes that hurt our children’s self esteem and/or have us feeling overwhelmed and frustrated as parents.

Some of the things that parents who have learned coaching skills find very useful include:
*focusing on fun;
*deeply listening and connecting with their children;
*better communication with their children;
*how to create mutual respect with your children;
*how to establish good consequences;
*being consistent as a parent;
*being lovingly assertive; curbing their tempers;
*and establishing healthy boundaries.

If you want to begin learning coaching skills to be a better parent, start by showing your kids, consistently and constantly how deeply you love them and that you always love them for who they are even if what they do isn’t so great.

In addition, you can change your language so when your children are doing things that aren’t quite right, you can explain this to them in regards to their behaviors being non-acceptable vs. making the children wrong as people.

I also want you to know that you must ignore many of the negative behaviors you see in your children. By ignoring them, many of the behaviors will go away. So instead of constantly correcting, fixing and policing, find the good in your children and tell them about all the things they do that are right.

Being a parent can be tough. Children are considering things like alcohol, drugs, and sexual activities. You want them to make the “right” choices. To do this, you actually need to loosen up and let them go, once you have taught them to make good choice.

Questions

COACHING QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF.

As coaches we help our clients by having them make commitments. You can do this for yourself, too. Ask yourself the following questions and be honest in your answers.

There is no objective coach listening to your answers, so you must really go deep and fully answer the questions and see what surfaces up for you.

Be honest and be clear.

Questions:

What is MOST important to you in life?

Why is this important to YOU?

Can you vision what it would be like having that? Describe it fully.

What feelings would that bring you?

Are you willing to do whatever it takes within reason to reach your goal?

If you have a coach, run your answers by them for feedback. If you want to know more about life coaching go to http://www.coachinstitute.com and if you want assistance, go to http://www.terrilevine.com.

Training Company

The Most Important Things You Should Look For In A Training Company

Look for a company with years of service and solid testimonials. They have passes the test of time and have your best interests in mind. Look for a training company that only uses Certified, experienced coaches and trainers. While some “fly by night” companies may look good on the surface, if they don’t engage your employees, all your money for the training might go right out of the door with no results. Look for a company whose employees are certified as coaches. Only coaches who have learned the coaching skills and fully mastered them should be used. When it comes to training your employees, your best assets, be absolutely certain the people doing the work are incredibly knowledgeable, highly trained and utmost professionals.

Be certain that you choose a training company that has trainers that have met the standard of knowledge and expertise set forth by coaching certification standards. The productivity and profitability wealth of your company can be greatly impacted by your choice of a training company. Training combined with coaching, can increase employee productivity by over 80%. Training and coaching together, can result in over 50% higher net sales per employee, and 40% higher gross profit per employee.

Remember, not all training companies are the same. An uncertified, inexperienced training company can cost you employee productivity, employee profitability and take money away from your business and YOU!

The Stop Managing, Start Coaching program is a full training, coaching and consulting program, serving businesses for the past 7 years. All of our associates are put through our rigorous, Certified Comprehensive Coach certification program where they learn all of the newest, most up to date information about training and coaching skills.

More on Disengaged Workers

Gallup reported some causes of workers feeling disengaged:

• They don’t know what is expected of them at work
• They don’t have the materials and equipment to do their work right
• They don’t have the opportunity to do what they do best every day
• They don’t get recognition or praise for good work
• They don’t feel their superior cares about them as a person
• There is no one at work encouraging their development
• Their opinions don’t seem to count
• The mission of the company doesn’t make them feel their work is important
• Their co-workers aren’t committed to doing quality work
• They haven’t talked to someone about their progress
• They aren’t given opportunities to learn and grow

Without a sense of fun, workers will not cooperate. According to John Naisbutt, business people are mourning the death of the work ethic in America. But the new value is fun. Fun fuels the people to be productive. Fun creates cooperation faster than anything else, says Henry Donaghy, Fonaghy Financial Services. If you don’t put people first and make work enjoyable, there will be no profit, according to Rick Ralston, CEO of Crazy Shirts.

Criticizing destroys self-esteem and creates enemies. It does not engage a worker – this from the Universal Traveler by Don Kohbery & Jim Bagnall.

To overcome this and to get workers to be engaged, many companies hire training companies. Here are the top five most costly mistakes they make when hiring a training company.

1. Hiring a training company to give a seminar.
Seminars aren’t’ the answer. Studies show that management and leadership seminar participants forget 80% of what they learn within 72 hours.

2. Hiring a training company that doesn’t include corporate and organizational coaching as part of the package.
Coaching gets results. According to Fortune Magazine, recipients value their coaching 6 times the cost. 77% report improved working relationships with their direct reports, 71% with their supervisors and 63% with their peers. They also noted a marked increase in job satisfaction up 61% and in organizational commitment an increase of 44%.

3. Hiring a training company whose trainers are not properly trained or certified.
Effective training requires an INTENSE knowledge of organizational development, coaching, training and consulting. Lack of skills in any of these areas can lead to a decrease in employee morale and an increase in worker disengagement.

4. Hiring a company that doesn’t provide a year of more of follow up coaching.
Having training without follow-up coaching, doesn’t stick. You won’t get lasting outcomes or the return on productivity improvement and incremental revenues. Training without coaching only results in an increase of 20-25% productivity according to Public Personnel Management Journal. Companies who combine coaching with the training, increase employee productivity over 80% (Bureau of Justice Statistics, June 2001).

5. Hiring a training company without a track record.
The training, coaching and consulting industries are booming and many companies have newly established businesses. Because many lack the business experience, history and real solid experience of achieving outcomes, you can easily throw money right out the door. Would you hire a brand new CEO who had no experience?

I will finish this theme in the next blog, telling you the most important things to look for in a training company.

Laws of Attraction

The Laws of Attraction and Coaching

Just got off a fabulous call with a client where we spent the entire session coaching on the Laws of Attraction. If you aren’t clear on what this is, think of a magnet – like attracts like.

This is my number one tool in coaching and the most powerful way to shape behavior.

Whatever you give focus to, attention to, and think about predominantly, is what you will get. Once a client realizes this, they no longer feel passive in life or like a victim.

The only thing that keeps people from having what they want is their own thoughts. When they are putting out energy or messages or vibrations about lack, they are bringing in more lack. When they open up and allow themselves to think about what they do want and how good it feels to have what they want and believing what they want is coming to them, they are allowing in the energy that is like.

I highly recommend the works of Abraham-Hicks in parallel to coaching and tell my clients to listen to them about making a mantra of “I a going to make the best of this!”

So, what are you focusing on and thinking about and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling about and vibrating with most of the time? Is that what you want in your life? Instead, focus, feeeeeeeeeel and vibrate what you want and you will attract that.

Getting what you desire is an inside job.

Need help? Access free resources at: http://www.terrilevine.com or http://www.comprehensivecoachingu.com.

Work Yourself Happy

The Work Yourself Happy System: How to create employees who are working themselves happy so that key talent is retained and the work environment is more joyful and fun!

Happy and work… do these words really go together? Most people haven't thought of them together. In fact, the mere thought of Sunday ending and work beginning on Monday morning is enough to throw many people into a semi-depression.

We have come to expect that work isn't fun, it's tough, and it's something we have to do. But, what if we changed that story? What if work became an extension of who we are and what our life vision, mission, and values are, instead of just a boring way to make money and earn our living?

Companies who are embracing this new Work Yourself Happy System soon come to realize that it is partially the organization's responsibility to provide their employees with a work environment and a culture that is both fun and pleasant. They see the benefits in structuring the work place to be one where people enjoy coming to work, and they realize the cost savings in decreased employee turnover, increased employee morale, lower absenteeism, and more productive employees.

Coaching vrs Advising

What is the Difference Between Coaching and Advising and Does it Matter?

"Don't take advice from anyone who isn't successful
where you want to be successful." ~ Joe Vitale

Coaching involves working with people who usually, but not always, already have some degree of success but are "stuck" and want to move forward and don't know how. There is, in coach-speak, a "gap" between where they are right now and where they want to be, and this may involve their professional career or their personal life, or both. This may also be on a larger corporate scale or on a small individual level.

Coaching is a co-creative process. Coaches assist clients to accomplish their life goals and dreams and discover and fulfill their purpose in life in a process that involves the client 100%. So, regardless of whether the issue is career related or personal, a Coach will help you find out what it is you really want out of life and "coach" you to achieve it. Coaching is always about YOU. Coaches are non-judgmental and do not provide therapy or tell you what you should do next. You hire a Coach to assist you to design the life you want - not the life thrust upon you by circumstances or parental influence. If you want more of the same, that is somebody else's ideas, you hire a consultant.

Coaches also assist career professionals who have forgotten how to "have a life" and no longer have work/life balance. With the increase in company downsizing and added pressures applied to many career executives, more and more of these stressed out individuals hire coaches to help them ease into a new career or start their own business, or just cope with what they are currently doing with more ease and joy. And they do all this without advising.

Valuable Coaching Article

Becoming a Coach in Every Day Life -
Ten Ways You Can Become More Valuable to Everyone you Encounter

Be the change you want to see occur in the world around you. We can't make other people be more considerate, helpful, honest, etc., but if everyone were to work on themselves and develop these attributes, our world would be a better place.

1. Don't be judgmental. Look for and recognize the good in yourself and in others. We are all capable of so-called "good" and "bad" behaviors and we all have our "good" and "off" days. We are all unique and it is wonderful that we are different and not all the same - in our appearance, our thoughts, our opinions, our likes and dislikes. Being different is not threatening, it is not "bad", it is just "different". Embrace the differences and be happy for the variety. Likewise, forget the concepts of "right" and "wrong". People are not good or bad or right or wrong; they just are. If you were in "their shoes" maybe you would act differently, or maybe not. Being judgmental wastes time and cuts you off from opportunities and meaningful relationships - because you are not perfect either, and your judgment might be worse than the person's you are judging!

2. Respect. Don't make the mistake of thinking your rights are the only ones that count. Don't ignore the other person's rights. Our fundamental right is to be respected. Being wealthy does not make a person more deserving of respect and neither does a high-flying career with a fancy title. Respect is not about material issues or where one sits on the social ladder. Respect is acknowledging another human being's dignity and treating them how you wish to be treated yourself. We all came on to this earth equal and we're all checking out as equals. What happens in between is just a series of different life experiences. The poor man who lives in a slum, who cares for strangers, volunteers assistance without expecting anything in return and lives a clean, honest life is more deserving of respect than a wealthy businessman who dresses in fine clothes, lives in a huge mansion, and treats everyone like pond amoeba, cheats on his wife, swindles his shareholders and has forgotten how to tell the truth.

3. Be a Good Listener. How often do you really listen to other people? How often do you plan what you are going to say next while they are talking, or allow your mind to drift off onto something else instead of concentrating on their every word? It takes practice to be a good listener, but in being one, you are showing respect and in a position to better comprehend the real message being given to you. You avoid misunderstandings and missed instructions. Furthermore, the other person will appreciate your attention and return the courtesy.

4. Be interested - not interesting. This goes hand in hand with being a good listener. People love to talk about themselves and will delight in the opportunity to do so, so ensure you ask questions and take an interest in what they are telling you. Don't worry about them hogging the limelight - you can have your turn during the conversation. Have you ever met someone who only talks about themselves? Count the number of times you use "I" in your conversations. Judging, arguing points, interrupting the conversation, and using "I" a lot are sure signs you need to review your communication skills.

5. Respond from Your Heart. We tend to respond to others using our head, not our heart. We formulate stories about us, we defend our ego, or we judge other people or what they have said. If we respond from our heart, we can respond with understanding and a sense of connection. Find something good to say about people and to people. Build people "up" - don't knock them down. Go with your gut instincts.

Serving Vs. Selling

In my highly rated sales training program, Selling-Without-Selling, I help sales people shift from a selling mindset to a serving mindset.

They learn to use the right words to build relationships and they understand what they say and how they say it is important.

Here are some tips from the program at: http://www.selling-without-selling.com)

1. Language makes a difference: Use language that comes from a place of service, that provides impact and are attractive to your prospect. Make your language simple and without jargon, so you can be easily understood.

2. Create words that come from a place of serving: Instead of scripting the way people have traditionally used this concept in sales, we teach something else. I would never have pre-scripted ways to overcome objections as they sound phony and are highly ineffectual. Instead, create a list of words and phrases that best express what you want to say. Phrases that really feel good to you, that you own.

Self Care

Self Care During Holiday Time

Everyone I meet talks about how busy they are. My personal focus is on not being busy and fully enjoying each second of time on this planet. Instead of being in “doing” mode I am in “being” mode. This, I believe is why I feel less stress.

Before I volunteer for a project, accept a dinner invitation, or say, “yes” to anyone or anything, I check in. I ask myself if I really have high desire to do this thing, and if it were my last few minutes on this planet, if I would choose to do this or something else. Knowing, fully, that each breath might be my last, I then make my choice.

If you want to create a more extraordinary life and feel less stress, here are my golden self-care rules:

1. Sleep 7-8 hours every night
2. Schedule quiet time with yourself daily
3. Meditate at least 5 minutes/day
4. Deeply breathe all day long
5. Eat healthy and keep away from caffeine
6. Keep a journal or diary
7. Say NO more
8. Communicate what you REALLY want to say
9. Celebrate YOU… each day think about all the positive aspects of YOU

Shocking Statistics

Today I read some shocking statistics.

Each day in the US, 2861 high school students will drop out… 17,297 public school students will be suspended … 1000 children will smoke their first cigarette… 2739 children will have parents who are divorcing… 4248 children will be arrested… 1329 infants will be birthed by a teenage mother … 8219 children will contract a sexually transmitted disease!

Frankly, this frightens me. As a coach who cares deeply about human beings, I wonder why we raise so many children who never reach their full potential. I think about the parents of these children and I wonder if they had coaching tools, if they’d be able to raise better children.

My experience as a coach, and a trainer of well over 2,000 coaches, is that when we learn coaching tools, we learn what we need to make incredible transformations in the lives of others. This goes for children, too. I believe if we start coaching our children early, we can help them prepare for what life puts in front of them. Our children will be better family members, friends, and workers and be able to meet goals and keep themselves on track.

The reason many adults and their children have so much chaos in their lives, is that we aren’t taught the skills we need to live highly productive lives in our schools. We don’t understand coaching tools because no one ever educated us about them.

When parents learn coaching skills they can help their children make better decisions, solve their own problems better and become better able to adapt to change. When they encounter obstacles they have strategies to deal with them, don’t get frustrated and make good life choices.

Coaching teaches us about the world, about ourselves and about being a human being on this planet. Education teaches lessons in math, English, history, etc, but missed the most important life lessons.

If you want your children to make good choices, be responsible for their futures, and to have the tools to see the consequences for their actions, you must learn coaching skills. Parents who learned coaching skills report their children are more connected to the family, are more positive, more loving and forgiving, make good choices and understand how their choices impact their future.

Coach Training and Why?

Who Enrolls In Coach Training and Why?

Students attracted to Comprehensive Coaching U and The Coaching Institute, are unique, exceptional, intelligent people, who want a program that moves rapidly. Our students range in age from 18 to 65 and over ¾ of our students are women.

People enroll for personal interest as well as their life and career well being, and to assist family, friends and loved ones in having happier lives and doing the work they love. We have recently noticed an increasing number of young people in their twenties, enrolling. These students are looking for a career that makes a difference and pays well. Many of our students are adults who want a career change shifting away from computers, corporations, teaching, health care, and other traditional fields. Still, others are personal trainers, yoga teachers, massage therapists, consultants, social workers, registered nurses, physicians or other health care practitioners asking to integrate our curriculum into their existing practice.

Our training is especially designed for those interested in working professionally in the booming field of life-coaching field, doing important work, and doing what they love while serving the world.

One of the gifts of life coaching is that you choose where to work. Many graduates work in their own home, while others rent office space to see clients. Many graduates work in settings with other professionals such as: chiropractors, personal trainers, therapists, mental health professionals or in gyms, day spas, yoga studios. Corporations enthusiastically invite graduates to be guest lecturers, paying them up to $1,000 to speak.

There is also the increasingly popular option of distance coaching, working with clients over the phone. The possibilities are unlimited. There is a great freedom in your ability to shape your practice into whatever works for you.

Another special treat in being a life coach, is that you can choose when you want to work. You are trained to earn $100-150 or more per hour. You may want to do this full time, or may want to supplement your current career by earning extra income in the evenings and on weekends. You design the schedule that fits for you. If you do want to leave your day JOB, the flexibility allows you to gradually ease yourself out of a currently unfulfilling “J-O-B”, with no financial stress. Ultimately, you have the choice to make this a part-time adventure or a full-time career.

Immediately after graduation, you will be charging $295 a month, or about $2,360 for an eight-month coaching program. By finding one new client a week for 50 weeks of the year, you will earn $118,000 annually… with two new clients a week, $236,000.

After gaining further experience and confidence, we encourage graduates to increase their monthly fees to $400 or $500 a month. While there are so many social workers, personal trainers, psychologists, massage therapists, chiropractors and other health providers, there is almost nobody who can effectively guide others to create extraordinary lives and work. All this at a time when more and more people are wondering: “What is my life about?”

Like starting any new business, building a successful life coaching practice requires two to three years of focused awareness, perseverance, commitment and motivation.

Graduates report receiving great respect from both clients and healthcare providers, they receive referrals, are taken seriously, and are eagerly invited to work in medical offices, chiropractor’s clinics, gyms, spas and other professional settings.

Coaching For Change

Let’s face it... no human being actually enjoys change. Most of us fear it. When you better understand what blocks you about change, it become easier to coach yourself (and others) through change.

Getting to know YOU!

Which of these statements apply to you?

1. I don’t want to make a change until I know all the details.

2. Until I get really fed up, I don’t make changes – I have to pushed internally or externally.

3. My fear of change overcomes me and I stop myself.

4. I avoid change.

5. I feel like a victim when I am forced to change.

6. I like things status quo.

7. I am hung up on how things use to be.

Now, here are some ways to move through change:

1. Think about a change you thought was bad, that had a positive result on your life and/or work.

2. Realize that change happens no matter what.

3. Focus on the changes you’ve experienced and how looking back they weren’t so bad and might even have ended up better.

4. When focusing on one major change in your life or work, keep other changes very minimal.

5. Look for the lessons as you change.

6. Find a coach or role model to assist you with change.

7. Ask friends, family, co-workers and others to assist you during change.

8. Look at the big picture and the end result and find possible positives from the change.

9. Find ways to feel more in control.

10. Ask questions and get facts.

11. Instead of how the past was, live in the moment which is.

Coach Yourself and Win

I always teach my coaching clients to coach themselves in between our sessions.

By changing their negative self talk, they are moving through emotional energy drains which hold them back and opening to allow in more of what they want in their lives and work.

Here are some tips you can put to use:

1. Always check in with yourself and ask how things are feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling. If they feel in alignment with your core values, all is well.
2. You may well ask, "Why do parents need to learn how to be parents?"

Some of the things that parents who have learned coaching skills find very useful include: focusing on fun; deeply listening and connecting with their children; better communication with their children; how to create mutual respect with your children; how to establish good consequences; being consistent as a parent; being lovingly assertive; curbing their tempers; and establishing healthy boundaries.

To do this, you actually need to loosen up and let them go, once you have taught them to make good choices.

Change Your Life!

Change Your Thinking; Change Your Life!

When coaching clients I help them to focus more on creative, inspired solutions rather than the apparent problems and challenges of life and work. I do an exercise with them where we fun through solutions like watching them play out in a full feature film. There they are in Technicolor, right in front of our eyes. As the movie unfolds, we talk about positive ways to direct the movie. It is like a magic daydream about the future.

Try this for yourself:

Imagine the solutions and how much better things can be. See yourself and what you are wearing, doing, feeling, tasting, touching, hearing and smelling. Make it vivid and don’t rush.

As you imagine what you desire, take ONE action that brings you closer to your movie.

You really can create ALL you desire as what you think about and focus on is EXACTLY what you get.

Spice Up Your Life!

In my self-coaching program and my coach training programs, I encourage people to add some risk taking to their daily lives. Why? Each time you face what you fear, or what you can’t control, you grow as a person. By allowing yourself to be stretched, you evolve.

Several years ago I took clients to a ropes course and I also participated in the ropes course. I learned that by facing my own fear of heights, I no longer am paralyzed by that fear. I also learned that all fear is a story I have created.

I am not saying you have to jump out of plane. You might start your own business, or speak a truth you have been holding back, or live on raw foods for 10 days. Challenge yourself to work and play at your highest potential.

A Great Idea

A Great Idea for Network Marketers, Small Business Owners and Sales Professionals!

When I was number one in sales in the nation for the network marketing company I was with, people said I was lucky. When I took a start up company from zero to 11 million in one year, people said it was the right business at the right time. When I started my own coaching business and went from zero to $450,000 plus in a few months, people said I knew the right people.

It is none of that.

In fact, I’ve taught over 2000 network marketers, business owners and sales folks to do what I do.

Here is a tip you can apply right away from my system:

Have a contact manager party. Everyone is invited to bring his or her contact manager with him or her. Each person finds out what the others at the party do for business. Each person attending tries to match up those attending with some of their contacts.

Then, right at the party, they write a note of introduction and sends it off to their contacts, encouraging them to contact the service professional ASAP.

Have fun and build your business.

Referral System

The Selling-Without-Selling Referral System

I have built 6 businesses by referral and trained thousands of entrepreneurs and sales people to do the same.

I outline the entire system in detail in the program at http://www.selling-without-selling.com and am giving the essence of it here so you can use it to your success.

Every satisfied client/customer is asked a question like this, using your own words: “Would you be willing to write a letter commenting on how I’ve helped you in your business?” Then, if they say yes, I ask them to write the letter on their letterhead. Then I say, “You know what would be really great? I’d like to send this letter out to some people I know, and was also wondering, would you be willing to send this out to some people you know and I’ll take care of the postage and mailing if you provide the names and addresses?”

Now, I mail the letter to my own network as well as the referrer’s network. The letter has credibility and expands my own database and referrals roll in!

Sometimes entrepreneurs and sales people are fearful and don’t follow this formula. If you aren’t willing to do this then you lack confidence in yourself as well as the product or service you provide.

If for any reason the person you ask to write the referral says they don’t want to do this, just ask them why not. Perhaps they are not satisfied and if you find out now, you can build a better relationship with greater service.

Ask for referrals and use the process. It works!

Trust

How to establish trust with potential clients.

Many sales people, entrepreneurs and healthcare professionals, come to me as their business coach and ask how to start with clients for the most effective relationships.

In all cases I believe there is one thing you have to do and that is to establish trust. When you deeply tune in and listen to another and come from a place of caring, then you begin to co-create a relationship that feels good.

Your goal is to discover who this person is and what they are wanting – not to push your product or service. Instead, to listen deeply, be tuned in to what the person’s goals are and want it is they want.

After you have an understanding of who the person is and what they desire, then you can educate them on your products or services and show them the options they have to select from.

I act as a coach in speaking to clients and teach all business owners and sales people to do the same. By coaching, I engage in a loving conversation and then allow the client to choose what works best for them. If they aren’t feeling drawn to my products or services, I won’t sell them on something that doesn’t match.

When I teach the selling-without-selling system to sales people, at first they feel they’ll loose sales. Once they try it and see the results, they are instant believers.

By coaching a prospect to figure out what it is they want, they feel respected. Instead of putting your sale first, you put the client first. Forget about selling them your product or service. Focus on assisting others to figure out what products/services is a fit for them.

Building Trust

How to build trust with potential clients

Instead of being concerned with selling a potential client your product or services, simply plan to establish a trusting relationship where you are not attached to the outcome… instead, focused on the person.

I know most sales people I have trained and companies that I have worked with try very hard to ask the right questions to create a sale and usually the results aren’t stellar and sales people turn over rapidly. My approach based on techniques from http://www.selling-without-selling.com, is to really deeply get connected with another human being. Sales come from relationships and if you form a trusting connected relationship; you will easily, effortlessly, joyfully sell your product/service. They will buy YOU!

A few tips:

1. Set your intention and state it openly to the prospective client. Example: “My intention is to get to know you better to see if my product/service might be a fit for you. If we don’t see a fit, we’ll part as friends, with no hard feelings. I am not here to sell you a product/service. Let’s just find out about each other and see where we go from there. Is that ok with you?”

2. Now, listen deeply to find out about the prospect and ask questions from your heart (not a chart or check list!) to find out what is important to this potential client and why.

3. Notice where there is synchronicity and chemistry.

4. Go more with you intuition about what to say vs. a script. Be YOU and engage with the prospect.

My Formula

What is my formula for success?

Every week I either get emails or meet people at my speaking events who ask me about my personal success formula.

I am going to reveal it in a simple version.

1. Create a Technicolor vision where you see, taste, touch, feel and hear exactly what you desire. This is not a goal… it is a moment-to-moment movie of having everything you desire.

2. Make all your decisions based on YOUR own intuitive feelings. Always ask yourself, “How does it feel?” Take action on the things that feel good and let everything else go.

3. Each day take some action toward your vision. Every day move forward no matter the fear or the negative energy. Momentum!

Coaching Sales People

Why Do Some Sales People Make An EXTRAordinary Living?

I have trained sales people, sales teams, sales organizations and sales managers and created top sales people in the United States. I taught myself to sell and become number one in sales for a national company. I know there is a formula of success that sales people can use. The problem? I have the formula and unless you are a client or your company is a client, you don’t know it…so, I am going to give some of the formula to you.

Let’s start with a foundational principle… the sales person must strongly believe in the value of the product or service they sell. Passion for the product or service gives them the right mindset. Next, the sales person must form strong connections and meaningful relationships with their prospects. If the sales person is trying to sell without the relationship being established first, they will fail.

So, the inner aspects sales professionals need to first learn are to believe in their products, have a passion for what they sell, desire to connect with people and also to have the right language to explain and describe their product/service.

Coaching

What do people get coached on?

When I chat with folks about coaching, I am often asked why people hire coaches. I looked through the over 2,000 people I have coached since 1999 and created a list of the most common things I see bring people to coaching:

1. Want to find a new career
2. Want to start a business
3. Want to get a job promotion
4. Don’t really have any life goals
5. Don’t take action towards their goals
6. Don’t have a life plan
7. Not fulfilling their life purpose
8. Not motivated
9. Not using their strengths
10. Going through the motion but feeling low energy and little enthusiasm
11. Want to get more clients or create more sales
12. Want more business success
13. Lacking confidence
14. Not comfortable selling
15. Don’t like to promote themselves
16. Want to do less work and make more money
17. Need to make an important decision
18. Not organized
19. Wasting time
20. Feeling down after a negative life or work experience
21. Easily upset
22. At a plateau
23. Wanting to loose weight
24. Learning to say no and to create boundaries

What is coaching about?

What is Coaching Really About?

In a word: Change.

People come to coaching because something in their life or work is not quite right yet. Maybe they have a lifelong dream they haven’t manifested or a business they want to open or maybe they began their journey towards their goal but it hasn’t happened for them yet.

The reason why most human beings don’t move through change well is that they don’t have a clear, Technicolor vision of where they are going. In addition, they don’t have a solid action plan to assist them to achieve the vision they desire.

Then, life gets in the way and day-to-day priorities become more important then their goals. And the circle of not getting what you do want is born.

With a coach, you work on one area of your life or work and make the changes you desire in just that one area. You achieve that goal fully and fast. Your coach teaches you to move through change better and enjoy it more and helps create momentum and accountability, too.

Selling Without Selling

How To Get More Clients, Customers and Sell More Products and Services with EASE

I don’t think selling should be difficult or manipulative and believe that when you come from a place of serving and assisting, folks buy with ease and joy.

My formula is simple and referred to as “Selling-Without-Selling”.

Here are some quick tips for any business owner, entrepreneur, sales person and others who want to create more sales.

1. Ask people about their biggest obstacle or what is NOT going right or well and really deeply listen, without interrupting them.

2. Ask them what makes that obstacle or not quite right, the one that is the most important one to them. Again, listen deeply and carefully to their response.

3. Ask them if they did not overcome that obstacle or change that not quite right, what are the worst things that might occur? Listen deeply here, too as they will reveal their emotions and their underlying fears.

4. Ask them if the worst-case scenario occurred, what might that cost them, not just in financial resources, but also in time, energy, relationships, feelings, etc. Listen to their answers and their reasons to buy your products are services are being revealed by them.

5. Ask them what it would be worth to them to be sure the worst-case scenario did not occur and to have the not quite right yet or obstacle removed. Listen deeply as they let you know how much money, time, energy and other resources they are willing to invest in the solution.

Wellness & Coaching

Often people don’t think of coaches as working on health and wellness goals. I believe one of the great things I have gained in working with my own coaches and being a coach for my living, is the improved wellness and well being that comes from being coached.

All of us have inside of our human bodies energy which can create more health and wellness. Most people don’t realize this.

If we aren’t conscious of this and don’t practice it, then we will not create more healing. A coach can assist you to find your own natural inner ability to heal. When in a trusting, caring, confidential relationship with a coach, you can tap into your own inner guidance system and see how you have the energy of wellness in you.

I have found that my clients feel less stress and anxiety and also release their fears and inhibition when coached. The have deeper creativity and more physical energy.

I strongly believe that when you hire a coach for any goal, you benefit in creating greater wellness, greater internal peace and greater understanding of your role on the planet.

Areas of Sales Coaching

A sales coach works to help the sales professional develop goals and to create an easy, effortless plan to meet their goals. The plan of action is co-created and feels good to the client.

The sales coach serves as motivator and helps the client to learn new language, new approaches and new ways to sell with greater ease and joy and success.

As a sales coach, I focus on creating more confidence in the sales person, so they can have even greater success.

Coach to Sell

Face it. People don't want to be sold. They're tired of being one of the "suckers" who are supposedly born every minute. They're suspicious; they don't like parting with their money, and to many people, ALL sales people are the same. They know you are after their money. They know you do not have their best interests at heart. They think you are pushy and arrogant… somebody who might sell their own grandmother if it meant a bonus!

But people love being coached. It's respectful and considerate of their needs. it helps them focus on what is right for them. In fact, it's all about them - the client. It doesn't matter to you if you make a sale or not, and they appreciate that… in fact, they just may buy something from you after all… you're so 'nice' and honest!

The days of the old-fashioned salesman/woman have long gone. For many in the sales profession, they know what not to do, but they aren't quite sure about what they should be doing. And the answer is quite simple… learn and apply coaching skills to your selling situations.

H.R. professionals and Managers are embracing coaching skills now because they realize this is the best way to deal effectively and successfully with all types of people. It entails a special honesty and openness that up until very recent times, was not a reputation the sales profession enjoyed. One of the wonderful things about coaching is that it can be applied to anybody in any situation with remarkable results. The reason it works is quite simple. People like to feel respected and honored as intelligent and worthwhile beings. They like to be listened to and understood. They like others to be honest with them and not manipulate them. When you make somebody feel this way, it is very interesting to see how cooperative they become.

As a Sales "coach", instead of worrying about closing the sale, you can relax and coach people into a sale. Instead of struggling with resistant prospects, you can coach them into doing the right thing for you and for them. Once you cease to be pushy, people cease to resist. When coaching a client, rather than selling to them, you listen to what they have to say, and by listening very closely to everything they say rather than thinking about what you will say next, you can learn if they are likely to be a fit for whatever you are selling and how best your product or service may serve them. You will learn what their objections are and whether they are reasonable or something that can be overcome. This process is a gentle, friendly and polite way to do business and it is one to which more people respond favorably.

In essence, people come to see you more as a trustworthy advisor rather than somebody with ulterior motives and your eye on their wallet. Leave your sales pitch in your briefcase… when coaching your customer you start with questions, and then listen very carefully to the answers. Don't speak to them like you would to a ten year old or somebody whose mother language is anything but English. Speak to them as you would to friends. You don't push it if your customer seems anxious to get away. Maybe they are busy and your timing is bad.

When you have listened and learned about your prospective customer's needs and situation, you are in a position to know whether what you can offer will be of real benefit to them. Don't try and recite the sales brochure, just select a few things about what you can offer that apply to their situation. If you were listening closely to them, this part will be easy. Then invite them to take the next step, and don't get anxious at the last minute and resort to hard sales techniques from yester-year in an attempt to close the sale. Leave the ball in the customer's court. Establish your integrity and sincerity first. You have to "sell" the person on YOU first, before you can sell them on your product or service. And it's important to note that people can spot a phony a mile a way. It's better to leave your card, a brochure and other pertinent details with them and invite them to call you at any time, no obligation, if they'd like further information, than undo all your efforts by trying to close the sale with the old traditional methods and risk losing them even as a future customer.

A not so obvious benefit of this approach is even if this customer isn't interested, they may know somebody else who would be. Word of mouth referrals are powerful. Never forget that every prospective customer to whom you speak may be able to bring more business your way. What would you like them to say to their friends about you and your product?

So don't think of yourself as a salesperson in future… think of yourself as a friendly and trusted advisor, who just so happens to have a particular brand or service he recommends. Never run down your competition. In fact, if you believe your client would be best served by another company's product, you can earn valuable points by telling them about it.

It sounds easy, but when it comes to putting it into practice, these skills do not necessarily come naturally to everybody. But there is no need to despair. There are some excellent training programs around - there are some duds too. It pays to do your research when looking for training. Or if time and money is an issue, you can invest in a home-study coaching kit and learn these skills in your own time. You can find one of these at this website http://www.comprehensivecoachingu.com/future-coach.htm.

It doesn't really matter which method you choose to upgrade your skills, just as long as you do upgrade. "Selling" is so "yesterday" and your customers are much more wiser and savvy than they used to be.

For many years, I have believed that everyone needs to learn coaching skills. No, not so I can make money out of everyone!

One of the greatest gifts of training as a professional coach is that by learning coaching skills, you dramatically enhance and amp up your life.

Well, I have finally decided to take action!

In fact, I am going to teach every coaching skill so well, and so deeply, that people will live and breathe the skills. Real change comes from learning at a deep level. I promise you will fully learn these skills and be able to apply them with ease, naturally.

I am inviting people of all ages, all backgrounds, and all walks of life to join me for this program. Honestly, everybody is welcome. Sales Coach

How Does a Successful Sales Coach Assist Work?

As more and more sales people are hiring sales coaches, companies often ask me, what do sales coaches do?

A successful sales coach will start with the inner landscape of the person. Starting “inside” out. That means, instead of giving more information, the sales coach begins by helping the person to develop an inner framework that allows them to be successful.

The very successful sales person is different from the average sales person in that they have a well-evolved inner foundation/landscape. Their inner stories are positive.

So, sales coaching should always start with where people are in their heads. Finding out things like what the work “sales” evokes for the sales professional. How they feel about selling. What might need to shift so they can generate more opportunities?

If you are a sales person the best place to start to improve your sales is to become non-judgmental about selling. Identify your “story” about selling. Before you engage a sales coach, think about why you want sales coaching and if you really want it.

If you don’t want to sell more, or be challenged to go the next level, a sales coach is not for you. So, for now, really think if sales coaching is right for you.

Promote Your Business

Promote your business by connecting with another like-minded business.

I coach and consult with health care business owners and other practitioners who are looking to expand their businesses. Here is a story about one of those folks.

Carl Wagner wasn’t growing his chiropractic business as fast as he wanted to. When we started coaching I had him identify his clients biggest issues. One issue that he shared with me was that many of his clients had leg cramps.

We talked about things he recommends for them, in addition to chiropractic treatment. He shared that he told them to buy support hose.

So, I had him get with the local pharmacy selling the hose. What I saw was the mutual interest of the 2 businesses.

He connected with the pharmacy owner and we created a special event promotion. The clients of the chiropractor and the clients of the pharmacy were invited to participate in a drawing for $200 worth of products contributed by the pharmacy and my client. In addition to the grand prize, there were 10 additional prizes, valued at $50.

The event was held at the pharmacy where the drawing would occur. The pharmacy and my client had signs advertising the event in both their businesses for about 30 days prior to the drawing. They also mailed information to their mailing lists.

The pharmacy was given printed gift certificates to be seen for a one-hour office consult for leg pain or cramps, by the chiropractor.

The chiropractor gave out $5.00 certificates for support hose from the pharmacy to his clients.

They also created, with my help, press releases to the local community papers and radio and cable TV stations about the drawing. They got this in print as well as having the press actually show up to take pictures and write an article about the drawing.

On the day of the drawing, 149 people came to the pharmacy. The prizes were given out. The media recorded the event and every attendee was given a gift certificate for money off from the pharmacy as well as free consult from the chiropractor.

My client paid for some printing, mailing and postage, which cost him under $1,000. His return? In 30 days: $7682 in new client revenues!

Coaching Skills

Why Do Parents Need Coaching Skills?

You may well ask, "Why do parents need to learn how to be parents?"

To do this, you actually need to loosen up and let them go, once you have taught them to make good choices.

If you don't already have your own copy of the bestselling book, Coaching For An Extraordinary, get it today so you can start to parent with more ease and create successful children.

Here is what one reader said:

"No other book I've ever read delivers advice for a perfect way to live your life as easy to read and understand, than this book. I have discovered truths, which I've now applied to my own life, which really have made a remarkable difference - and that's what I love about this book. Advice that is not only sound, but works when you try it! I love that! Terri offers 'tools' to enable everyone to live a wonderfully rewarding life, and presented in such a way, you think, "well, gee, why didn't I think of that!" If I suspected Coaches were a special breed before, well, now I am convinced of it. I'm going to raise my child by these principles. Thank you, Terri!"

Executive Coaching

Executive coaching is growing by about 40% a year according to The Economist, December 2002.. “Executive coaching is a proven growth industry. At least 100,000 coaches work for businesses today, up from 2,000 in 1996. And that figure is expected to exceed 50,000 in the next five years. Executive coaching is also highly profitable; employers are now willing to pay fees ranging from $1500 to $15,000 a day” –The Economics of Coaching. Harvard Business School Journal, July 2002.

Due to the high demand, professionals who want to be trained as business coaches, and who want an accelerated learning program while achieving deep learning, can do so with a personal mentor. This allows them to fast track and get a flexible training system of high quality, to enter this booming field.

Interested in this exciting field? Check out all I have to offer you at: Comprehensive Coaching U. There is also so much more in the works please do keep checking back on updates!!

Improve Your Life

I read this wonderful saying by Ogden Nash today which might be why I have been married 25 years.

“To keep your marriage brimming,
With love in the wedding cup,
Whenever you’re wrong, admit it,
Whenever you’re right, shut up.”

It is interesting to me how much in alignment this is with the philosophy of coaching. In coach training we teach the skills of making people right vs. wrong and of being non-judgmental and charge neutral. Clearly, key skills needed in ALL relationships!

New ComprehensiveU Site

For those of you who missed the deadline for the special "blog readers offer" please do visit Comprehenisve Coaching U for books, videos, kits and articles, from Terri Levine, such as provided here:

You Could Be A Coach If?

Ever find yourself overcome with a mysterious urge to pick people up, dust them off, and set them off on the yellow brick road to success even if you've never met them? Ever had to bite your tongue because some part of you desperately wanted to help someone, but decorum and a sense of "what will this perfect stranger think of me if I said that!?" holds you back? Ever fight this same, powerful urge when you come across somebody who is dithering, because he doesn't really know what he wants to do, and if he does, he's not doing anything about it?

Ever wonder why your view of the world is colored by a warm and cheerful, rosy hue, yet people around you are describing a dull, gray color? A Pollyanna you may not be, and you don't have to see the world through rose-colored glasses, but if you see the world as a place of opportunity, a positive place, and you notice what is good and right you are different to people who see shadows where you see cloud shapes, or if they do see cloud shapes, they're looking at something like the grim reaper, and you're seeing butterflies. Yes, some of us do believe life can be easy, uncomplicated and fun. We believe it, because we live it! If you live it too, or want to live it and want others to live it, there could be more at play here than just your good nature!

Do you really enjoy the company of people? Do you see them as unique individuals, yet part of a connected whole? Do you accept them without judgment? When everyone else talks about how rude and lazy Joe Bloggs is, do you see the wonderful potential he has and talk about how clever he is at making the most of his relaxation moments while the rest of the world grows stress ulcers? Wow! Have you got the symptoms!

What about how other people see you? Do you ever ask yourself, "What am I? Some kind of Dear Abby?" Do people, be they friends, family, or co-workers, come to you with their stories and ask for your advice, or just to cry on your shoulder and hope for your words of wisdom? Are you the keeper of their deep, dark secrets? Do people naturally confide in you? Do you enjoy that? Yes, maybe you do have a trusting face but perhaps, it's something more Do you enjoy chatting with people about their problems? Of course, maybe you are just nosy, but let's not discount the very real possibility that you are sincerely interested in other people and they sense that.

Perhaps you find talking to strangers an easy and fun thing to do. Maybe you have that golden knack of making people feel at ease a pre-requisite for spilling the beans to you in the first place, wouldn't you say? And if showing care and consideration to somebody who is upset is second nature to you, of course, this might be the "nursing instinct" in you that never had the chance to bloom because your education veered off in the other direction, and again, it might not.

Perhaps you have a background in teaching or training? Perhaps you admire public speakers who motivate others to greatness! It certainly fits into the jigsaw puzzle, doesn't it? Speaking of puzzles maybe you are one of those who can read between the lines of what is being said to you you can really listen and hear more than just words. Yes, sounds like you have a great set of ears, but then again, great ears aren't everything although they do look terrific with great earrings - but you are using more than ears to listen to these people.

Are you innovative and entrepreneurial, and do you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others and helping them? Do you enjoy finding new ways of doing things? Are you creative? Perhaps you are interested in doing something that will benefit society these are all "signs", you know! There is a name for all these feelings there is an answer why you may often feel frustrated because you can't express the real you!

If most of these things remind you of yourself, I'm surprised you aren't a Coach already! What good is all your great advice, expert knowledge and know-how if you can't apply it to yourself? If your advice is good enough for other people, why don't you take it? You want to help people, you enjoy helping people I bet you'd love to be paid for it so what's stopping you?

If you are a great people person, who gets along well with all types of people from all walks of life, then you have a great gift, and those with such gifts who are benefiting individuals and businesses worldwide are known as personal and business coaches. Don't you feel better now, knowing that there is a word for your condition?

If you are interested to work on your own personal development, willing to walk your talk and be an exceptional role model to others, you have what it takes to be an exceptional Coach.

Add to these talents a desire to be your own Boss, work your own hours, choose your own clients, your own niche, etc., and what we have here is a professional Coach.

So, now you know what your condition is, perhaps you are wondering how to deal with it, or even when to deal with it! Or maybe you've just been laid off work, or maybe you are ready for a change of career. Maybe you just want to work from home for personal reasons. Or it could be that the idea of helping people the way you have been, from the comfort of your own home, being your own boss, AND getting paid for it is just incredibly attractive! (It is possible to help people who don't find that attractive these are the same people who can't see your butterflies of course, they'd have to hire a coach first!)

Well, why not consider becoming a certified Coach? It's a way of being that allows you to work your own hours, while you help people attain their goals. It's challenging, fun, profitable, and rewarding. And best of all it removes that empty feeling you sometimes feel because you have these incredible gifts and the strong desire to use them to help the world and you just don't know how!

If you'd like more information on how to treat your 'condition',please visit me at my web site http://www.ComprehensiveCoachingU.com.
