Personal Coaching - Doing What You Love and Loving What You Do

Cuts in healthcare jobs, salaries and benefits have prompted healthcare professionals to investigate other career paths. While nurses are inundated with paperwork, less direct patient care, short staffing and overwork, some have touted personal coaching as the next adjunct to a nursing career.

Many healthcare professionals are flocking to the field of coaching and they feel as though they have rediscovered their professional calling. The field of coaching is booming and is listed as one of the top 10 fastest growing professions in the United States. It is expected that having a personal coach will be as common as having a financial planner or a personal trainer.

Many people are struggling to create the life they really want. The field of personal coaching emerged in response to this desire for a better life. When clients hired a personal coach, people found that they were able to design a life they wanted without struggling.

Healthcare professionals are finding that they make natural coaches and have the right skill set to succeed. As a nursing practitioner, you are use to making people more comfortable, administering a dose of support and compassion, positive goal setting, training in a healthy outlook, excellent communication skills, nurturing and giving patients instructions on how to take care of themselves and maintain optimal health. Think of the skills, nurturing that led you into healthcare as you look at what makes a great coach. You already have the ability to work with a large variety of client populations, are motivated and open to new principles and applications. Nurses can lend a medical perspective to personal coaching as a profession. Many busy clients don't take the time to care for themselves as they should. Their lives are fragmented with the daily stress of work, family and chores accumulating and building. They are struggling … their lives don't flow and they are desperate to make their lives work somehow. You can help…

Healthcare professionals are going through rocky times. Many are choosing to select a more positive, healthy profession that will still allow them to have a positive impact on others. Some healthcare professionals are being forced to find new ways to supplement their incomes. For many, coaching is the answer.

A personal coach is an objective partner who is totally committed to the client's success. A coach dramatically expands the client's perspective to see new opportunities and innovative solutions, helps identify obstacles and move easily and quickly around them, assists in making better decisions with less effort and keeps the client focused to insure short-term and long-term success.

Among the many reasons to hire a coach are: the ability to make more money, spend less time working, reduce the amount of stress, balance the demands of work and family, rediscover the passion in work, put more fun in life, start or grow a business, transition into a new career and work smarter not harder.

Most coaches meet with their clients three or four times a month for 30-minute telephone sessions. This makes it easy and convenient for the client and enables the coach to build a practice without geographic boundaries. Fees for coaching services range from $250 to well over $1000 a month for highly specialized coaching.

In addition to helping others live a more balanced and satisfying life, healthcare professionals who become personal coaches enjoy other benefits. The freedom and financial benefits of coaching allow them to work less and spend more time with their families, while making more money. Successful coaches can earn six-figure incomes working from the comfort of their own homes.

We often are so caught up in daily living that we forget that we have the power to create a life that is filled with joy, passion and contentment. Coaching is a way to help people discover their American dream. A coach is a partner who, like an athletic trainer, can push us to grow, be stronger and be a winner in the game of life.

As the demand for coaching continues to grow, so do the opportunities. Many coaches choose to build a private coaching practice working with individuals, groups or businesses. Others may become corporate coaches who are hired to work internally for consulting companies or even large firms. Still others, learn coaching skills as a way to bring greater value to their role as a healthcare manager.

Again, by contrast, coaching requires little paperwork and more direct client contact. There is no shift work, just agreeing on a time that is mutually beneficial to client and coach. No punching a time clock, just flexibility, you facilitate the client to arrive at their own answers and conclusions about what works in their lives.

With personal coaching as an option, healthcare professionals once again are able to find the meaningful work they were meant to do, spend more time with family and enjoy a growing field.

Training to be a Certified Comprehensive Coach can be done from the convenience of your own phone through telephone classes and can be completed in about 6 months. Then you are on your way to a lucrative, personally rewarding and meaningful career. After all, isn't helping people one of the reasons you entered nursing to begin with?

Narrow the Niche

I had the coolest experience yesterday! A client of mine who is a personal trainer and who has been marketing to "women", narrowed his niche with my process! He now serves: women who live in exclusive neighborhoods who are ages 40-50 and want to be at their personal best weight.

I am just tickled for him.

He now has ads and targeted mailings to get out directly to his exact audience!

Yeah, baby, how I love when a client fully gets it!

Coaching rocks!

Why Am I Giving Away My Services...

Yesterday I was speaking with a top marketer who said, "What is driving you to give away free coaching and coach training?". He asked this question with a tone that said to me, "are you NUTS?"

Well, here is the deal.

I make a very nice living... I have all I desire in my life... great friends, wonderful health, great love and support... connection... peace, ease... a fantastic family... awesome students and clients and so many pleasures! My life is filled with joy and harmony and I love each and every moment and live my life with full passion.

I have this drive within me to assist others to live their lives more completely and to get all the meat from the lobster! Life IS too short!

During our awful storm this week, 2 people in my area were killed. One a young person who was killed when a large tree fell directly on him. Don't you think he was planning things, going to do things that would someday make his life better and someday going to have certain things, or be certain things or experience certain things? Someday, is over for this person. The other was a grandmother visiting from Tennessee who was in the car as a passenger. Her daughter was driving the car and her granddaughter was in the backseat and they were on their way to see her grandson play baseball. A tree crashed through the front window of the car and killed this grandmother. Don't you think there were exeperiences she was planning for someday?

I learned a decade ago to live each and every moment fully and I live as each may be my last. I have experienced my clients who were babies and young children dying, as a former health care professional... I have had friends taken suddenly by car accidents and disease that knocked them down and carried them away in the blink of an eye... so many plans, so many things they were going to do "someday".

Ok, so back to why I am giving free coaching and coach training... when I learned coaching skills about 10 years ago and became a coach shortly after that, my entire way of thinking, feeeeeeeeeeeeling, acting and being changed. I live from my inner core. I know my purpose and my daily intentions and actions are the ones which bring me the must joy and passion. I do what I do as if it were the last moment of my experience on this planet. I live my fully and get all the juice from the fruit of my life.

I have more inner harmony, a more joyful life, more ease, more love and support and connection to mind, body and spirit.

My desire to share with others how to live from this place is HUGE! I know part of my personal life purpose, desire and mission is to serve others to live their best lives! I am giving my time, my energy and my knowledge to intimate groups of people for free so that those ready to let in a new life can.

(oh, if you want to find out more or want to join us, send me a direct email: terri@terrilevine.com with 2 day experience in the subject)... you do have to apply for me to know you are really ready to live from your soul vision and life mission!

Momma Nature

We had a strange weather event last evening. Before I completed dinner, Sheba had to go out. I left my meal and took her out and noticed the sky was green in one place, black in another and light in another. It was humid and close to 100 degrees. All of the sudden winds began swirling in many directions and I got the sense we had to run home. Sheba, almost 14, can't exactly run - LOL!

We came in and I said to my Dad, "we are going to loose power and a tree is going to fall down in front"... I ran and got candles and as I lit the first one the power went out and the winds kicked up and we had over an hour of intense "hail balls" pounding the house!

Many hours later, still we sat with candles, and the sky lightened up. I looked out and our largest and healthiest pear tree had totally crashed down, barely missing one of our cars!

Power was restored early this morning. Our neighbors all have damage and we all have flooded basements, too! Ours is pretty bad:(

Most roads are closed in our town as the trees are blocking them.

Holy cow, who upset Momma Nature?

I am grateful Mark got home safely, my Dad's car was not hit, Sheba and I got in before the storm, we have power and we are safe.

I expect EASE today;)

Being Authentic

Many years ago I attended a training seminar to become a certified trainer for one of the biggest motivational speakers ever in the industry. The training experience was a full week and we had evenings free. Late one night I was taking the elevator in the hotel and bumped into the trainer who had taught us to always be in a positive frame of mind and say how things are going great. So, I said to the trainer, "how is it going?", expecting the answer we'd been taught to give. The trainer said, "ok". I felt so let down and never fully resonated with this famous motivational speaker and felt them to be a fraud.

If you call yourself a motivational speaker, a life coach, an empowerment coach, a positive person, a spiritual coach or person or claim any title, you need to BE that and live that and breath that!

Yesterday at lunch with a friend, she pointed out how a coach we both know who claims to be "spiritual" takes actions and does things far out of alignment and that people are "getting this" and running from this person and see this person as a total fraud.

It is clear to me that you must BE authentic. Be WHO you are all the time. Live your truths.

Great Day!

Today I spent the entire day with a wonderful client who flew in from Arizona and we worked together all day! I feel so blessed to know such amazing people and to be able to share a day with them in person! I get so jazzed and energized from this work that I am thinking of doing a few more days where clients can come and work with me for a full day in person.

I just am flowing with gratitude for great people, great connections and say thank you to all those who allow me to serve them in some way.

How I Manifest

Coaching a client today she remarked that she was amazed at how quickly I manifested things I wrote or talked about. She asked me to share my personal process. I thought others might enjoy this, too, so here you go. You can personalize it and make it yours!

1. I have a vision map that I keep on my wall and look at and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel daily!
2. I think and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel my ONE focused vision all day long.
3. I EXPECT to have my vision come to me but don't exactly know how and don't need to know how.
4. I meditate for about 15 minutes a day on my one vision.
5. I stop myself whenever I am thinking I can't have my vision and spend time and energy feeeeeeeeeeeeeling my vision.
6. I live and think as if I have my vision already.
7. I take one action every day towards my vision.

Having this ONE focus is magical for me!

I will give you an example of something I manifested:)

When planning our vacation to Aruba I wanted to manifest an experience of feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling deeply connected to nature, my soul, my husband and the human race. I focused on this desire for about 30 days prior to the trip and the 4th day of the trip, it came... I won't share the details, but I hope you can see them on my face and in my energy here:

Create An Upward Spiral

I was teaching a class yesterday with The Coaching Institute VIP students and we were talking about how we and our clients get into negative spiral thinking. One negative thought pulls in a like negative thought, then another and another and on it goes.

Then later last night I was working on a chapter of a new book I am writing and decided to teach the kind of thinking I do as a systematic process. It is the opposite of negative spiral thinking and works on the same principles... like thoughts attract like thoughts. I wake up each day and grab a positive thought before I get out of bed... then as I work out, shower, eat and get ready to begin my work or play day, I grab more and more positive thoughts and any time I can during the day I amp those up and IF I find a negative thought lurking around, I quickly pull in positive thoughts.

People also remark that I am in a good mood even when stuff is not quite right in my life experience. This is because I control my own thoughts and I know I choose how I want to think and feeeeeeeeeeeeeel and act in each moment.

Try the upward spiral!

Can Anyone Coach?

I listened to an interview with a "spiritual coach" the other day who claimed anyone can be a coach. I beg to disagree and offer my own opinion. I find that positive people focused on finding good in their lives, good in others and who live and breathe positive thoughts, feelings and actions are the people who make great coaches. People who have the life and work experience that flows from positive energy and who really want self-enlightenment and to assist others on their journey - those are great coaches!

People who live in a negative what is "wrong" mindset, who are out to get others, who don't care about human beings and invent and find problems, really need to find another profession.

A successful coach has high self esteem, full regard for others and lives in a postive way.

If you have those traits, YES, become a coach in 2006.

More Vacation!

I love vacation as it gives me time to connect with nature, new sites and to read, walk, meditate and journal as well as to deeply and fully be with my amazing husband. I have enjoyed 9 great books and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world (considered one of the top 10 in the world by Conde Nast Magazine) and great fresh fish (while we ate with the sunset over our shoulders, our toes in the sand and music playing in the background) and most of all talking to new people and learning a lot about a new country. I was vacationing at "One Happy Island" ... if that tells you the name of the Island, you've been there, too, I bet! I will be going back to work with their tourist department on a project about Working Happy and One Happy Island - what a great marriage!

So, my theme for today??? One Happy Life!

Coach Yourself

I was just with a client and they demonstrated such beautiful inner coaching, I had to share! They were in a small car accident on the way to work and then at work had a run in with a team member.

The client's old pattern was to get upset, feel stressed and to think about everything they could have done to avoid an accident and to avoid the run-in and literally beat themselves up.

What they did after being a coaching client was to focus on what was working: the accident was small, no one was injured, the car has minimal damage, the team member blows up a lot and the next day is fine, etc.

I love being a coach and helping others to live their lives in more positive ways.

Travel Hassles

Lately flying has become more and more of a hassle and doesn't fit in with my easy, effortless lifestyle. On Sunday night I had to catch a flight out of Philly to Indy for a business meeting Monday morning. The flight was delayed one hour going out and then when we got on the runway we had 33 plans in front of us and each plane was being spaced 20 miles apart due to weather. So that was another hour. Then I got in, 2 hours late and there was no gate agent for 25 minutes, so we were on the plane waiting to get off. Next, I went to get the rental car. An older gentleman was in front of me and could not find his license, then his credit card, then he wanted to add his wife as a driver and she could not find her license... then he only wanted a silver car... next he wanted a red vinyl interior only... he was in line for 20 minutes! So, at 11:33 PM I finally got my rental car and drove to my hotel.

Coming back yesterday, my flight was delayed over 2 hours and then when we got in, once again there was no gate agent for 10 minutes.

Each simple 2 hour trip has become 5 or more hours lately.

I read books, talked to new people, meditated and read emails to move the time along. Trying to make flying fit in with the ease I desire.

Back to Singing

I had such a great time with all the festivities with the wedding last week that the fact I got a really bad asthma flare-up wasn't something I was focusing on here. It was really a major flare up with me loosing my voice for 4 days! It is finally back... I just realized this when I was in the shower and started to sing and heard this husky voice - yeah, it is back and I sound live a man! LOL...

Running out now to be with my friend Besty and enjoy a late birthday celebration between friends... then to my date with my hubby, tonight.

My husky voice and I can't wait to sing through the day with joy.

Create YOUR EXTRAordinary day, too!

When I went through coach training almost a decade ago, it had a huge impact on my life. I thought it was just simply going to train me to be a coach so I could work with others helping them achieve more of what they wanted from life and what I found it is that by learning coaching skills, my life had less stress, more joy, ease and flow.

I could have had reasons for "upset" yesterday... my emails from the weekend are all gone and can't be retreived, I lost my voice due to an asthma attack from the humidity (and I was doing a podcast and radio interview yesterday, too!), one of my assistants is away and we need access to something only she has, some software in our database wasn't working right, my dog is in pain from arthritis, and on and on and on. What I learned years ago in coach training is that life is chaos and is always filled with wonderful things and then these things that people stress over that are simply not quite right yet. So, instead of having a stressed out day like I would have without coaching skills, I simply said, "oh yeah, this is the stuff of life" and I filled my mind and energy with what IS working and focused on that and decided how I wanted to feeeeeeeeeeeeeel.

I picked ease for the feeling and I listed over 80 things that were working - including beautiful, supportive, loving letters from clients, students and mentors and my team at Comprehensive Coaching U, Inc. The day moved on, some things on the list worked better and some didn't... oh well, such is life.

I cherish each beautiful experience and know this is simply the ebb and flow of life.

Walking Your Talk

As a part of coach training we teach things like being non-judgemental, finding greatness in people, making people right, not putting people down, not gossiping behind people's backs, etc. To me, these are basic human behaviors of kindness love and humanity.

I got the oddest email from a person who has Reverend in front of his name and am really shocked by it. Not only isn't it coach-like, it is far from spiritual essences I would expect from a Reverend.

It was filled with judgment, finding fault, accustations, and told me he engages in talk about me behind my back.

I wonder why there is such contrast and difficulty for this spirit in walking his talk and living and breathing coaching skills and living and breathing as a Reverend and I send him much love and light. I see his humanness and where he is on his path of evolution andI hold when he develops on his path of personal development, he will be more loving, gentle, kind and accepting of others.

Wedding Bells!

Yes, my awesome niece Rachel and her wonderful partner AJ just married this past weekend! What a great celebration! It began with us gals getting our manicures and pedicures, grabbing some lunch and then getting gowns all set and then we were off to her Bachlerette Party (what happened there, stays there LOL).... Then we had a Bridal Tea and went to decorate the reception hall for her red and white rose themed wedding. The place looked so beautiful. We then changed and got to the church for the rehearsal and then off to the rehearsal dinner (yummy food!) and watched a funny slide show by AJ's brother of them when they were younger. Then we met early on Saturday AM to get our hair done and munched on bagels and then chatted most of the morning. Then we changed at church and they had a lovely ceremony and of course a fun, fun, fun celebration! The party continued with an after-party celebration... but the bride and groom were missing for that one;)

And finally, yesterday we had a great brunch at AJ's parent's home.

I got home yesterday PM and can't stop thinking about the wonderful week filled with nothing but joy.

Rachel and AJ are honeymooning in Hawaii (ahhhhhhhhhhhh!) and starting a wonderful life together.

Happy times are all around!

My Dad's Fall:(

I came home from a meeting on Friday and as I came hom I passed my Dad who was talking Sheba out for a walk.

I came in, set my things down and was taking some water out of the refrigerator when my cell phone rang. The caller ID said "Dad" and I thought it was odd he'd call me while walking the dog. A man's voice said that my dad had fallen.

I ran from the house to see traffic stopped and a huge crowd of people around my Dad who was laying face down on the sidewalk. I felt like my heart stopped.

He was in a pool of blood.

He was talking and trying to act OK. We got him up and he was covered in blood coming from his nose, mouth, arms, hands, legs and knees. One of my neighbors flagged down the police who called the ambulance and emergency squad.

They wanted to take him to the hospital as he had so many wounds and his blood pressure was up high, but he refused to go.

I called the family Doctor and took him over there. We found he had broken his nose, had a serious hand and leg wound with huge holes in the leg and hand and that he did not have a head injury. In fact, his hip replacements and knees were ok.

I then got him to the hospital for Xrays and we found his nose had a bone chip and not a complete break.

So, although he looked awful, he was going to be fine.

I have been doing his wound care twice daily and he is getting better and is a great patient.

His face is purple, black, yellow, red and green and his nose is HUGE, so he'll look odd for his granddaughter's wedding this weekend - we'll see, maybe some make-up will work!

I feel grateful and blessed that he isn't badly injured and that the Angel's were looking out for him. I am thankful to the people who helped and that he is ok.

Passive Income

Every Monday, I enjoy a day set aside for what I call a Design Day. On this day, for 4-6 hours, I focus my time and energy on creating the systems that support the creation and enhancement of passive income streams.

My view of passive income is that is money that flows in, while I am doing other things. I do set up systems that create the income to come to me and don’t want to give the idea that I do nothing, light a few candles and clean out the file cabinets, and money rolls in. This is why each week; I devote a business day, every single week, to the systems.

On a passive income day, a design day as I call it, I monitor my current passive income streams – internet marketing, affiliate programs, joint ventures, cross-referrals, network marketing, etc. I see how they are working and how to optimize each to be financially productive as well as what systems can make them run with less effort and more results. I also spend some of the day looking for other passive income opportunities that resonate with me as well as those that add to my current passive income businesses. I investigate things like lead generators, technology, and other resources.

My goal in having passive income streams is to have ways of generating income while I am sleeping and not through my regular business of coaching, where I trade my time for money. I love taking what I enjoy and designing products and services that create passive income and I spend part of my Design Days doing this.

I enjoy these days immensely and love earning more income and having more free time, so I look forward to my Design Time to set up and expand my current income streams. Each week as I spend my Design Day on passive income streams, I create more money for the rest of the week, based on spending the 4-6 hours a week. I think of myself as a recording artist who goes into the studio one day and creates a great CD. Each week I may be on tour or on TV or promoting my CD – that is my Design Day. And every other day, the CD sales – my passive income – come to me while I sleep or do other things with my life and time.

Slow Down and Live The Life You Love

Do you find yourself wanting more time to slow down and enjoy your life? Are you feeling the need to accomplish more? We all want more time, more money, more love and more satisfaction. It is hard to balance all the things we want when there is so much to juggle. Chances are that your life is packed full with to do lists, commitments, projects and problems. When you’re this busy, you are missing out on living your life. Your life is just happening around you.

You can begin to improve your life in the areas of work, home and community when you begin to slow down. The process of slowing down will put you back in touch with yourself and you’ll be able to find your values once again. You’ll even find you will begin to reclaim your life and your dreams.

Here are three steps to help you slow down and enjoy your life. First, permanently eliminate three tasks, responsibilities, projects, goals, routines or commitments that aren’t necessary. If you do volunteer work that you feel obligated to do, give it up. If you make your own home repairs, hire them out. If you are involved in social events that you no longer enjoy, get out of them. If you dream of driving the Lexus or owning an expensive home, let the dream go.
Now you are ready for step two, which is to delegate, eliminate or organize 10 tasks. If you are spending time doing your own taxes, hire a CPA instead. If you clean your own home, hire a house cleaner so you don’t have to do this task. If you prepare the family meals, find a place to pick up healthy meals or find someone to prepare and deliver them, two or three times a week so you aren’t in the kitchen every evening. Install Quicken to manage your checkbook with ease. Find a dry cleaner that delivers so you don’t have to pick up your clothing. Hire a personal coach instead of pondering, contemplating, considering, but not doing.

Finally, if you are like most people, you have some type of daily to do list. To do lists can be anything from post-it notes to expensive day planning systems. You probably can’t imagine not needing such a system. How will you possibly plan your day? Well, if you are really serious about enjoying your life then you must give up that daily list that keeps growing. Here are some tips for letting go of the to do list ritual. When you think of a to do, ask yourself if it is something that you really have to do or is it something you can hire someone else to do, or delegate or simply eliminate? Set up a simple reminder system to keep track of when to mail out birthday and anniversary cards, note important social events or business meetings. This system can be a calendar, birthday reminder book, or data base contact system. Won’t it be better to experience each day in the present rather than reacting to the next item on your to do list? Keep the important information in a system but forget the to do list!

As you simplify your life, you will find you begin to make different choices. Instead of life running you, you are designing your life. You’ll notice what you have been missing because you were too busy and out of control to experience your own life. Although you can select the pace at which you want to simplify, those who tend to do it in bits and pieces never make it through the process because they lose momentum. So just go for it! When your life is full, you miss out on life. Start enjoying your life today!

There Are Only 3 Ways to Make Money

We only have 3 ways to make money.

One way is to do do what 99% of people do (which is why they don't have abundance) - they sell their time for money. It can be by working at a J-O-B or having their own business where they get paid based on the amount of clients, or patients they see (like a coach, or doctor).

Another way is to sell a product or service or a combination of products/services. This method gives you money from the sale of the product or service and NOT from the amount of time you actually work. This is actually alot wiser than the first method and there are tons of books and stories about millionaires who made their money this way.

The third way IS the way I love and I believe is brilliant and keeps you life and soul mission in tact.

That is to create Passive Income. Passive income can make you very rich ans has made more people weatlthy than methods one and two combined!!! You produce income with this method in an automatic way.

Think about it... the amount of money you earn has nothing to do with the amount of actual time or the amount of work you put in.

As a coach, I work with people to shift from getting paid by selling their time in a J-O-B or as a business owner, to moving first into selling products/services in combination and then quickly into creating passive income streams.

I have room for ONE client starting in June. If you are serious about working with me and having me quick your butt (with love!!) so that you learn to create serious wealth, I invite you to send me an email and SELL me on why I should pick YOU to be this clients. (terri@terrilevine.com).

Headknocking, Brick Walls ... and What's a Manager to Do?

It’s great to see many companies are now acknowledging that the old, traditional methods of management are not effective and they are modernizing their strategies and taking steps to improve employee morale, and therefore productivity. CEO’s are taking an active interest because they have to and senior managements all over the world are issuing new guidelines and goals to their middle management to initiate.

CEO’s and senior managements accept that low morale among their workforce means low productivity, which in turn, means low profits. Smart companies are hiring Coaches and Consultants to turn this around – everyone wants a happy workforce with improved productivity and profits. Some companies are trying other methods. But whatever method is being used, it still falls on Middle Management’s shoulders to implement. They are in a unique position to see what isn’t working, what won’t work, why it isn’t or won’t work, and what adjustments could and should be made that would make it work.

Sadly, for some of them, their senior management, CEO’s and Boards of Directors don’t listen. Sometimes, when a middle manager tries to express his view about a new strategy or goal, senior management can sometimes close their ears. After all, what would this middle manager know? If he was so smart, he’d be “one of us”. They may listen just to humor him, but they have their plan of action, and really, they just want him to carry out orders and toe the line.

If the bottom line employee is the one getting his or her hands dirty, it’s middle management who has the task of instructing and overseeing the way in which their hands are dirtied. They receive their instructions from those at the top, which is not always the best place to be if you want a clear understanding of what is happening at ground level. Middle Managers who attempt to enlighten them often find themselves doing the equivalent of banging their head against a brick wall.

Too often they are told they are not in a position to “know”, and to just do as they are told, which is a shame, really, because they are in a position to know. They may not know what plans are discussed in the boardroom, but they do know whether the plan is working or has a hope to work in real life, or at the very least, be able to identify trouble spots where some tweaking of plans would be ideal.

It is frustrating for middle managers when their senior management, the CEO, and the Board members, expect them to carry out reforms and oversee changes that are designed to make improvements, but may be misguided and miss their mark.

So, does the middle manager assertively argue with his senior management and risk his or her position and possibly jeopardize his own career goals within the organization? Nobody wants to rock the boat if it means their job is on the line, or they’ll be ostracized, even if they know they could save the company thousands in mis-spent dollars on initiatives which are poorly designed. And there are those in senior management who simply don’t want to be “shown up” by a lower level manager who may just know ‘better’ than they do… so reports and advice are not passed on. Middle Managers are humored and sent on their way.

What can a middle Manager do in this situation? When he has an idea he knows will work better, but his own senior management won’t even do him the honor of hearing it? He knows the instructions he’s been given are going to be a waste of time, mostly his time, and there isn’t anything he can do about it because those who make the decisions higher up, simply don’t want to listen.

This brick wall is familiar to many Managers. They’re too scared to speak up too loudly because their family’s welfare and the family home (mortgage) are often riding on his/her permanent paycheck arriving each month. He can’t afford to rock any boats. Meanwhile, his own boat is sinking and the Captain has left the ship to play golf.

So off they go to try and achieve their set goals and unable to achieve them successfully, yet powerless to do anything about it. The system or the senior level of management has let them down. And when this happens time and time again, it is a very demoralizing experience for the Manager involved.

So, what can a Manager do? There are courses of action one can take, some of which involve jumping off the deep end with their eyes closed – a leap of faith, and some which are just plain old common sense approaches.

1. A Manager can continue to do what is always done and the organization will not achieve anything worthwhile. If you are the type of Manager who doesn’t particularly care, just so long as his gets his/her pay check each month, then there isn’t a problem for you.

2. If you are the type of middle Manager who does care and who is getting a headache from the way the system operates, you can lay it on the line with your senior Management and just tell them like it is – politely, of course. If you strongly believe doing this would be detrimental to your career within the company, then you need to think carefully about this first. Feel your way; find a pair of friendly ears – someone must be willing to listen to you and help you champion your case. If not, is your career really likely to suffer, and if it is, can you live with that or do you have a contingency plan?

3. If you are really fed up, whether you decide to be assertive and speak up or not, maybe you should speak to a Career Coach or look for a new job. If your income is the sole income that your family depends on, maybe you should also start putting some aside for the possible eventuation that one day, you may be out of a job and need several months worth of savings to live on until you find new employment. If you never need to use these funds, the little nest egg you’ve saved will always come in handy for other things.

4. Maybe you can put it in a report and present it if a verbal presentation is out of the question. Or maybe you can organize a private chat with an influential senior level Manager, or the CEO, and have a heart to heart. Maybe the problem is with your own immediate manager. That’s a common scenario. You could try providing your immediate manager with a written report and copy it in to the CEO, and that way, whether your own manager is dismissive or not, you know the CEO is finally going to hear/read what you have to say.

5. Don’t just criticize any goals or plans or instructions that have been handed down for you to carry out without providing sound reasons and examples of why it doesn’t work, or won’t work, and perhaps hasn’t worked in the past. List alternative courses of action that you believe will work and ask for permission to try them. Where possible, show evidence of where and how your suggestions have worked and why they will work in your current situation. Show the organization the benefit to them of implementing YOUR strategies rather than the ones they have designed. And don’t dismiss the possibility that maybe senior management does know something you don’t, and maybe once they enlighten you, you will feel differently about everything!

6. Then there are those who admire managers who are willing to take risks. But it’s a fine line between showing initiative and insubordination. To deliberately disregard a directive from your own senior manager and implement your own plan which you believe will work (and his won’t) takes more than just courage. If you are wrong, your job and your reputation are on the line. Of course, if you are wildly successful, even the CEO will sing your praises (although there will always be some slight concern about your willingness to toe the line!)

In some organizations, middle management are not expected to make certain ‘executive’ decisions and their level of authority and responsibility is low. They are just a link in the chain of command. Some managers are happy to be here – they can safely ‘pass the buck’ upline. Many managers at this level are too scared to make decisions or instigate their ideas for change for fear of negative repercussions in the form of losing one’s job, or chances for promotion.

The trouble has always been, and continues to be, that in some very large organizations, senior level management are too far removed from the real day-to-day operations to know what is going on, let alone what will and will not work. When something fails, rather than admit the plan was bad, blame is laid at the middle Manager’s feet. It must be his fault – couldn’t possibly be our excellent plan!

This situation can occur in both large and small organizations. It occurs in very large organizations, because usually a more authoritarian style of management tends to be used. In this situation, middle managers are expected to do as they are told and not question their superiors. However, larger organizations who train their managers in a more participative style of management and who practice open communication and the expression of ideas are happy to find this system works.

It occurs in smaller companies because unlike the larger companies who can at least afford to hire experts to help them, smaller companies rely on their existing resources and their own board of directors. On the plus side, smaller companies find it easier to adopt a team spirit and engage in teamwork – which involves the middle manager, naturally, but all is not necessarily plain sailing if there are personality clashes or the company has limited funds to bring in outside experts and instead, consider themselves to be the experts.

Senior level management need to take more notice of the Managers below them. Listen to them and their suggestions; include them at your around table discussions and forward planning sessions. It may save your company thousands of wasted hours and dollars, and if nothing else, will improve your middle management’s morale and their own level of productivity!

Don't Be A Positive Thinker

Yes, that's right, don't be a positive thinker! Do be a postive feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeler!

When you think positive but don't feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel it inside you don't change your physical state and so you are really fighting negative thinking and not becoming positive.

When you feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel in your heart and soul positive feelings you will find you shift your beliefs and your actions and you will BE a positive person, not an imposter "trying" to think positive.

The Top 30 Limiting Beliefs (And Their Solutions) For Building Your Own Business

30 Doubting Statements Around Network Marketing

I don’t know how to sell

I feel better when I look at this as serving

I do not have enough friends to build a team

We each meet an average of 3-5 new people a week

I do not want anyone hanging up on me

I know I am offering a great opportunity and it is their loss

I don’t know what to say

I have a few great, easy scripts I can use

What if it takes too long and I run out of money

I can schedule this amongst other money making endeavors

My leads want to be called in the morning and I can only call at night

I have an assistant who is able to make the calls or I can swap leads with someone on my team

I tried something like this before and failed

This is a unique opportunity and offers a lot of support

I already invited all my friends to another opportunity so I don’t have anyone to call

I can find one new person to talk to this week and I can place an ad

I feel responsible for my team’s success

We are all in this together and my approach is to coach them to be successful

I might get someone into this that can’t afford it and their debt will be my fault

The system, if worked properly, allows each of us to generate income fast. This is a great opportunity to build a successful business at low cost.

I’m worried my friends won’t like it and then they won’t like me
I will feel better if I share this opportunity rather than they learn of my success and that I could have told them.

What if someone gets angry that I called

I do not take such things personally. I do not waste time on those that do not appreciate my offer. There are many more that do want to hear about this.

This is more work than I thought

I schedule the amount of time on this that easily fits into my schedule.

This is hard

I can talk to my team and see how those succeeding are making it easy

I’m afraid

I have the support of a team and can ask for help.

I’ve never been successful at my own business before

I can ask my team leaders and others in the company what they have done to create successful teams

Most businesses fail in the first year

This is an opportunity with an established business that I am now part of

I don’t like telemarketers calling me so how can I call people

I can call people at their requested time or I can send out an email to my leads prior to calling
I can’t get a hold of anyone on my team

If someone is not serious about being a team player I do not have time or room for them on my team

I don’t want to bother my team leader

I want to support my team so they must too

I had to find this opportunity myself so other people should find it on their own

I want to share this opportunity with as many people as I can. I want to make it easier for them to find it than it was for me.

If someone is meant to be a part of this it will find them

I can help facilitate their opportunity by helping it find them

What if someone doesn’t like the products, will they blame me?

It is up to each of us to try the products and decide for ourselves.

I’m not good on the phone

I can look at this like a conversation with a friend and then it becomes easy

I’ll just email my leads and if they are interested they’ll call me

What if they have some fears about making a call and I can make it easier for them

I don’t like to work alone

I have the support of my team and can find a buddy to work with

What if this is a hoax

This opportunity was created by a person of very high integrity who is very visible in the system and the company is a well established reputable company

It can’t be that easy to make money

This is just a story of mine and I have evidence that many are already making lots of easy money through this process

It takes 3 years to turn a profit in business and I don’t have that long

This opportunity is different in that it is built on a business that Is already profitable. Many members are already profitable.

The words Network Marketing turn people off

I will recognize the network serving that I am providing

Bonus

It seems like no-one else on my team knows how to do this so I’m going to have to build their teams for them to build my own success

I will continue to coach my team for success and teach them the sure ways to easily create a large, highly successful team

Achieving EXTRAordinary Business Results

Achieving extraordinary business results in today's lightening fast world requires some radical shifts in thinking and acting. Business is more than the bottom line and a balance sheet. People make business happen. To achieve extraordinary business results, cultivate deep and agile relationships with your colleagues, clients, customers, suppliers and competitors.

Create lifelong clients. First impressions are the most critical. Often when people call a business they leave with a lasting impression that is not too stellar. Speak with a warm heart and try not to sound rushed or that the call coming in was an interruption. Smile as you speak on the phone. The smile can be heard and will also keep the person answering the phone more upbeat and positive. Always state your name and then follow with the question, "How can I help you.” Use the caller’s name several times during the conversation. Give the caller your full attention - no paperwork, no computer, no filing --- nothing else but your full attention will do. Be sure to read back and repeat any important information including phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc. Always say thank you for calling before you hang up. Make the first impression one that is profitable and meaningful ... create lifelong clients from the beginning.

Always check your bags at the curb. Ditch the beliefs standing in your way. Nothing kills an extraordinary business result quicker than a misplaced belief or a hidden agenda. Be open to thinking in new ways and you'll discover new possibilities. You will become lighter, move faster, be more spontaneous and cover more ground with less effort.

Surrender the outcome. Being focused on the outcome limits your perspective, hinders your ability to seize opportunities along the way, and makes you less willing to take risks. It's like running a race with blinders on. Many people tell me they view me as a risk taker. I guess I do often take risks. I see huge personal benefits in doing so. By taking risks, I constantly expand my mind and see new possibilities. I gain more knowledge of myself and I gain courage and self-confidence. Set aside your expectations and fears. When you do, the possibilities will increase. Focus on making each day extraordinary.

Answers seldom come to us when we frantically search for them. There is simply no room for them. Our minds, spirits, and bodies are consumed with the search, the pressure to discover, the desire to achieve and the fear of the consequences if we fail. To find our answers, we must create space. Waste some time every day. Be playful. Allow yourself to laugh. Your perspective will dramatically expand. Create space in your life to invest in yourself and in others. I have spent many years reading and attending seminars on “success” and have come away with what works for my own life, and what works in helping my clients live a balanced life or a life filled with success. I have seen a few common denominators. These are things that I have incorporated into my day-to-day activities and assist my clients in learning to do the same. They are basic and simple and help us recognize what is most important in our lives. What are the areas that make-up my idea of "success"? They start with my relationship with my spouse. This is most important to me. Second, is my relationship with my friends and co-workers. My career contribution is next on my list as this is something I enjoy and have passion about. Success for me continues by having time for recreation and some form of spiritual practice. I also add learning and finance to the things that are important in my life. And my final components for success are contributions to community, nutrition, and exercise. These are my life success components. Each day I plan to spend time and focus on the areas that are important to me.

Achieving extraordinary results doesn't have to be a struggle. To reach for effortless and extraordinary results get your heart, head and soul in sync. Create a place of integrity, momentum, harmony and no regrets. Heart + Head + Soul = WOW!

Don't be afraid to look under the bed. We've all got a place where we seldom think to look for solutions. There may be treasure in the junk and monsters aren't so bad when you look them in the eye. Be aware. Sometimes the smallest things offer the most valuable solutions.

Use your accelerator to slow down. Ease up on the accelerator to slow down. You don't have to stomp the brake. The smoothest stops are gradual and gentle. And your car will last longer and use less gas. Anticipate and plan.

Make it bigger than you and it will pull you and everyone else along. Realize it's not about your success or failure.

Don't forget to signal before you turn. If you want people to follow your lead, don't make them guess where you're headed. Avoid a lot of crashes, fender benders and missed turns by telling folks which direction you are going before you take off.

Wear comfortable shoes. Be yourself. You'll get more done, have more fun and build more powerful relationships.

Find the "extra" in the ordinary. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you. Don't become so blinded by shiny new gizmos that you can't see the obvious.

Achieving Balance in Life and Work

A balanced life is not about better time management. Time management techniques are only tools to enhance a balanced life. A truly balanced life is actually a state of mind. The keys to achieving a balanced life are awareness, truth and action.

First Five Steps to Balancing Your Life

1. Identify the imbalances in your life.
Ask yourself these two questions:

Ø What 5 things mean the most to me in my life?
Ø What 5 things consume most of my time?

Compare your two lists. If your life is balanced, the lists will match. If the lists don’t match, ask yourself:

Ø What can I START doing or STOP doing that will align these two lists?
Ø Take action.

2. Take extremely good care of yourself. No matter how badly you want to give to others – your family, your job, your community – if your cup is empty you won’t have anything to give. Keep your cup full by taking extremely good care of yourself.

Ø Schedule time to do things you ENJOY. Make it simple and easy. Take a walk. Read a book. Go to the gym.
Ø Discover hidden opportunities to replenish yourself. Listen to your favorite music while driving home.
Ø CAUTION: Beware of SHOULDS creeping in! If you think you SHOULD go to the gym, re-evaluate.

3. Eliminate Tolerations and Incompletions. Tolerations are what you put up with at work and at home. Incompletions are unfinished business or relationships that ended without closure. Tolerations and incompletions steal your energy. Recapture that energy by eliminating tolerations and incompletions.

Ø Make a list of 10 things that you are putting up with at work and at home. Start eliminating the tolerations one by one.
Ø Take the Clean Sweep Assessment Tool to determine how much energy you are losing to incompletions. Take action. Add 10 points to your Clean Sweep score in 30 days.
Ø Set boundaries. Boundaries are the imaginary lines we draw around ourselves to protect our souls, hearts and minds from the behaviors of others that we find unacceptable. For most of us, it is not acceptable for someone to hit us. Drawing the line against physical violence represents a boundary. Strong personal boundaries create the space you need to grow and to be happy.

Ø Apply this principle to all aspects of your life. Rather than doing something because you think you “Should” do it, draw a boundary and politely say “No”.
Ø Pick 3 tolerations from your list and establish a boundary for each one.

5. Kick the Adrenaline Lifestyle. Do you find yourself constantly rushing from one thing to another? Do you overpromise then rush to get it done at the last minute? Do you drive faster than the speed limit and tailgate? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, you are living the Adrenaline Lifestyle. STOP.

Ø Take the Adrenaline Addict Self-Test.
Ø Identify one Adrenaline Trigger to eliminate from your life.
Ø Take action.

O.K. I’ve got the First Five Steps. What’s Next?

What Impression Do You Give?

Often we say things to customers, thinking little of how they must be interpreting it. Sometimes our more sensitive customers can take what we say the wrong way and take offence. It can be something as simple as, "I'll try". This sounds like it is something you automatically say to everyone - what reason does anybody have to believe you? Perhaps you'll forget as soon as you hang up the phone?

Instead of saying, "I'll try", reassure your customers by telling them exactly what you intend to do for them and what they may expect from that. If there are likely to be problems, be honest upfront and tell them, and also tell them what options exist for such an event.

Here's another one: "I'm so sorry, but I've been busy..." Too busy for this customer? We know that's not what you meant, but to the person on the receiving end of this excuse, that's exactly what it sounds like. Simply apologize for any delays, and tell the customer when they may expect 'action'.

Another annoyance is when you answer their question with another question. It can also appear defensive. Sometimes you have to ask questions in order to have the means to answer their question, but think first how you ask. For example, don't just blurt out, "When did you ring us?" Try, "Can you remember what day you rang us... this will help me track down the...".

When you want to get going, don't just say something like "Will there be anything else?" It sounds like you're impatient to get away from them. Whatever expression you use before parting, make sure it isn't this one. Rephrase it to sound like you are going to make a start on their order. Try something like, "If I've got everything now, I'll get started right now on ..."

Remember, what you "say" and what is "heard" by your customer are sometimes two entirely different things. Think about your expressions... do they need a change?

Women Creating Success Their Way

Men in our society view themselves as successful when they hold a high position, get a great paycheck and have material possessions they can show off. The single woman has different aspirations.

Whether never married or married and divorced we find these women happy without a man and spending time doing what they want and what fills up their life purpose, which is often not about a man or children at all.

In fact, in our society if a career is important to a woman she typically will not be married. This is the case for example at Glaxo Smith Kline, where more than half the women in senior management positions are single. It's the same situation at major companies like Unilever, Novartis, PICIC and Shell. And these figures do not include divorcees, just women who were never married.

What does this mean? It means in our society to hold a powerful leadership role a woman who holds a demanding career doesn’t also juggle a family and husband. It appears this is a choice that a woman makes.

Women are seeking to contribute to society through their work and feel to be successful in a corporate position they need to focus on late hours, stress, and being one of the “boys”.
In 2003, Fortune magazine ran a feature story called 'Power: Do women really want it?' Time Magazine also had a story that year called “The case for staying at home: why more young moms are opting out of the rat race.” What showed up clearly in these articles is that if/when these women decided to be married or to have children they didn’t get the feeling of self-worth from their jobs any longer. Instead, they got this need satisfied by being at home. Additional articles appeared in the New York Times, Business Week, Fortune, Newsweek and Fast Company saying that women chose to leave top leadership positions when they decide to marry and have children.

There seems to be a trade off that women feel about holding a job they consider important and valuable and being married and raising a family. I propose a solution so that women can feel successful whether married or single. Living the life you want doesn’t need to depend on your marital status or job title. Work is an extension of who you are and you can be happy with a man, with a baby or just with yourself. They key, in my experience is for women to find a career that brings them great joy and passion and that is part of their life purpose. If they want to have a family or get married, that career should allow them to do that and not drain their hours and energy.

Many women are becoming Life and Business Coaches using their natural skills and talents as well as work experience. These women work from home or at a client’s site and get paid between $100-$500 per hour. They get to do the work they love, using their natural talents and improving the lives of others, while making great money. This means they can work fewer hours, balance what is important to them, like relationships, health, fitness, wellness, community, spirituality, hobbies, etc

Ebay Is a Best Buy!!

As a book junkie ... I just can't learn enough, read enough and get enough info... I have found Ebay to be a great source of savings for books. Yesterday I ordered 10 hard cover books on everything from self-help to spiritual growth to leadership to make-up tricks. Each book was either brand new or like new and the maximum cost was $3.15 a book! I usually go for the auctions vs. the buy it now books and a I also shop at half.com.

As an author these sites hurt me. My own books which I authored I see listed there for little money and when people sell them, I make nothing:(. As a consumer I do love saving money.

In any event, I can't wait for my new books to arrive.

As a speed reader, I average anywhere from 5-8 books read a week and wish I had time for more. I am an endless learner and can't believe how much information we have in this world and love spending time opening and expanding my mind.

Song Lyrics You Don't Know!

Just came back from a meeting and as I was driving I had the windows down and pulled along side a man singing in his car. He was singing a song I love and I do know the lyrics for and was singing words that were so off, I was laughing. He was having such a great time singing his version of the song lyrics and clearly enjoying the music and for sure this is what it is all about!

What a hoot hearing him sing and then thinking about the songs I sing aloud and probably think I also know the words to!

I must check out lyrics.com fast before I do summer singing from my convertible and have people entertained with my words!

Prom Dresses and Moms

While getting my hair done today, I realized quickly it is prom time! I was suddenly surrounded by beautiful young girls and their moms showing off pictures of prom dresses and talking about which hair style would look best with their prom dress. Everything I heard was about prom hairstyles and prom dresses.

I finally had to spin my chair around to see some of the pictures of the prom dresses and to find out what was the latest in prom hairstyles. Wow, things have changed!

Dresses are super sexy and hairstyles are all up-dos with some strands of hair laying softly on their faces.

I was happy for the girls and saw how much their moms were enjoying this special time, too.

I then felt a longing for my own mom, who passed away 10 years ago yesterday. I am feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling such gratitude to have had a mom who loved me, supported me and was also a dear friend.

I hope all prom goers appreciate those in their lives and this wonderful time in their lives.

Google

I was writing a chapter for one of my upcoming books this morning and thinking about how many words are now accepted as part of our every day language. For example, "google". I hear people talking about google so much and no one, no matter their age seems to not know what google is. When something becomes entrenched in our society we naturally add it to our vocabulary.

Think of it: Internet, Fax, Ipod, MTV, Google - unheard of a few short years ago and now everyday words in our society.

I am curious what word will be next... want to take a guess?

Employees Can Enjoy Work and Companies Can Be More Profitable

There are five important things you must know to make your employees happy and productive so they can help your business thrive and prosper. To set this up you have to first understand that today's worker is actively disengaged. They also call out sick more. One million workers call in sick every day in America. In addition, two months of the average worker's year is wasted. Job stress is up 70% and stress related disease has skyrocketed. Studies show that if you give worker's a voice they will be more productive and loyal. This can make your company wealthier. It has been shown that proper employee motivation works and coaching increases company profits by 40% and increases employee retention 20%.

The leading edge companies train 90% of their employees yearly with an outside firm. 85% of your company success depends on your people skills. A conservative estimate of the monetary payoff from coaching, according to Fortune Magazine, is that managers describe an average rate of more than $100,000 or about six times what coaching cost their company.

What is happening in the workplace? I already said worker's are disengaged, now add to that the fact employees are less loyal and more mobile. Workplace violence continues to soar as well. Change iniatives have been shown to waste money with only 30% of them producing a bottom line result, according to the Harvard Business School. Workers feel work isn't fun and that they are aren't treated with respect and compassion on the job.

Here are the five costly mistakes companies make when trying to improve the situation above by hiring a training company:
1. Hiring a training company to give a seminar.seminars aren't the answerparticipants forget 80% of what they learn in 72 hours
2. Hiring a training company that doesn't include corporate and organizational coaching as part of the package. Coaching gets results. According to Fortune Magazine, recipents value their coaching at 6 times the cost. 77% report improved working relationships with their direct reports, 71% with their supervisors and 63% with their peers. There is also a noted increase in job satisfaction, up 61%, and organizational commitment improves 44%.
3. Hiring a training company whose trainers are not properly trained or certified. Effective training requires intense knowlege of organizational development, coaching, training and consulting. Lack of this can increase employee disengagement.
4. Hiring a company that doesn't provide a year or more of follow-on coaching. Training without coaching doesn't stick. You won't get outcomes or ROI. Training without coaching results in 20-25% increase in productivity. Training WITH coaching gives an 80% increase in productivity!5. Hiring a training company without a track record.

Would you hire a CEO without a solid track record??

What to Look for In A Training Company:
1. Certified, experienced coaches/trainers
2. Certified Coaches
3. A proven track record/lots of experience

The productivity and profitability of your company can be greatly impacted by your choice of a training company. Training combined with coaching can increase employee productivity by over 80%. Training and coaching together, can result in over 50% higher net sales per employee, and 40% higher gross profit per employee. Not all training companies are the same. An uncertified, inexperienced training company can cost you employee productivity, employee profitability and take money away from your business and YOU!

If you want to know if your employee morale can be improved, you can get a complimentary Employee Morale assessment at no charge by emailing president@coachinginstruction.com or calling toll free in the US: 877-401-6165.

The Indy 500

When I was a young child I remember being glued to the TV when the Indy 500 came on. No one in the household held an interest, but I was attracted to the roar and the speed of those cars. Years later when I married and we moved to Illinois, we began to go to the Indy 500 and since then I have gone to races all over the US and also become a racer and have my SCAA racing licensing and love to run Formula Dodge cars!

This weekend we were in Indianopolis on biz and this is the month for the Indy 500 so we planned to stay the weekend and see the qualificiations. From the time we landed till the time we left 3 plus days later, it rained, so the track was a wash out. In any event, I toured the Indy museum again, visited some wonderful friends, and walked the track (on the inside!). Just being there got me amped up.

My Dream Racer Team starts tomorrow and they better be ready for me now! I feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel the need for speed!

Letting In Change

I was thinking about how to describe life coaching to those who have not yet heard of it and the word "change" kept popping into my head. Life coaching is about embracing and welcoming and inviting in change. Our world is filled with conflict and contrast and we need to make constant decisions. There is a world of choices out there. Most people don't like change and have fears associated with change. They are afraid to fail, so they don't try new things.

I believe life coaching is what we do to assist others to make the lasting, postive changes they deeply desire as we help them tap into their real goals. By life coaching we help people achieve their goals by teaching them very specific techniques which empower them to make inspirational changes in their lives and work.

Yes, that feels like it exactly!

Moving The Body

In my book and program "Create Your Ideal Body", I share that by moving your body more each day (not killing yourself at gym), you can get in shape, stay in shape and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel great! Yesterday, for example, I did my walk in the AM. During my lunch break I biked for about 15 minutes to energize and then before dinner (while it was in the oven) I did some walking on the treadmill while listening to music.

I feeeeeeeeeeeeel energized and fantastic and this has allowed me to remain at my own personal ideal weight (other than when I got on thyroid medication which messed up my weight for 2 months!).

So, enjoy the weather, your pet, your family and just take a walk! In - JOY!

Meditation To Slow Your World Down

Everywhere I go people are running, rushing, pushing, driving fast and not focusing on the present moment. They talk about the future and they focus on what is to come, rather than live in what is their now. Let's face it, tomorrow is uncertain.

I believe that what shifted for me years ago in being able to stay present and focused, was to meditate when I walked. By meditating while moving I got in touch with my energy and could feel and connect in with my body and also allow the outside world to be less important. I feel more connected with the universe and myself just from this daily practice.

I am not doing anything during my walks other than focusing all my attention on me... my breathing, my stride, my feeeeeeeeeeeeeelings, my presence... my joy... my peace... my calm...my clarity... my thoughts... during my walks, nothing matters in the universe but me.

I believe this single daily action can reduce daily tensions and stress and open you up to connection. Move your body and you will find your world will slow down.

Weekend Joys

We had a simple, quiet and fun weekend. I got home Friday PM and we had a dinner planned with some associates, so off we went. Great food and chat. Then I had time to unpack, do a few emails to catch up with clients and get some groceries for the weekend. Saturday AM, after my walk, I did some errands and then had time to journal and finish a chapter of a new book I am working on. Then we went to NJ to visit our friends. It was a great drive over, with nice weather, so we put the convertible top down and enjoyed the sunshine. We had a really nice time visiting with our friends and then came home and relaxed. Sunday, after my walk, we did errands together and then met some friends in a village near their home and walked around some cool shops and then sat and had some iced coffees and chatted for a long time. Mark and I then went to a Phillie's game and Barry Bonds hit yet another home run. On the way home I had a chance to speak to Rachel, my niece and catch up. Really nice way to refresh and replenish and now I am into my day feeling much joy!

I am blessed!

Just got back home after an awesome time visiting my oldest niece, Charlene ("Charlie"). We talked and talked and dined and laughed and cried and shared. It was simply beautiful to be with this fine young woman and enjoy her company and discover more about her. I so admire her strength and compassion and appreciate her and am proud and honored to be her Aunt. I feel so blessed having family that I love deeply and I consider great friends, too!

Stress Be Gone!

I can feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel stress in the air as I speak to clients and go about my day. I de-stress following one simple thing I learned from my husband about 18 years ago, which has served me to this day. He said to me once, "If you can do something about something to change it, then do it and stop thinking about it and if you can't, stop thinking about it". At the time it sounded so simple it was almost ridiculous to me and as the years went by I began to understand. Stress is a choice. Just like worry or fear. I choose to live my life feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling happy and peaceful and letting in JOY! I do not choose to have worry and stress and focus on pain and what is not working, so I have to let go of those things that are out of my control. When I let you, I relax. As I said in "Work Yourself Happy", ..."let go and let God".

Stop Wasting YOUR Money!

Ok, I have something that really bugs me to get out so buckle up! I hear so many people complaining about lack of money and then see them wasting their money at Starbucks. A daily

cup of coffee and scones adds up like this:
if you are age 25 and put out $4.13 for your coffee each morning instead of putting that money into an index fund until retirement, you are loosing a nest eff of nearly $2 million dollars (based on a 3 percent annual cost of inflation and 12% market returns)

Seriously, can't you get a coffee pot and take 5 min to brew a cup? Mine has an automatic function and brews before I get up and is all ready to go when I am. Or instant coffee. Or, if for some odd reason you have to spend your money to buy coffee, go to the gas station or 7-11 or WaWa (here by me), which sells a cup of coffee for minimal cost.

Stop buying in to media hype that Starbucks plants to tell you and sell you that their coffee is "better". Come on! Be smart.

Think about 2 million dollars before you gulp another cup!

Month Of May - I'ts Race Time!

I love May as I am a HUGE fan of the Indy 500 and May is all about the Indy 500 for me! This year I even started a super special program to celebrate the race and to honor my passion as a racer myself (yes, I do have my SCAA racing license!). Here is the event I am doing and you can have fun seeing how it ties right in with my two passions: helping people create more success and racing:)
