Be Upstanding to be Outstanding

It would be reassuring if we could always assume every person we dealt with in business was an upstanding citizen who could be trusted to be open, fair and honest. How successful might we all become if we strived to be the best we could be in our own businesses and everyone else was striving likewise in their own endeavors. There would be no more scams, rip-offs, cheating or deceit.

You may have heard of the expression "be the change you want to see occur in the world". Yes, it can be a challenge in a world where a percentage of people do not understand the concepts of being considerate, honest or helpful, being in it only for themselves. One of the problems is that some people simply do not see themselves as others see them. They are not aware of their own shortcomings because in their minds, they don't have any shortcomings.

How do you know if you fall into this category? No offence, but none of us can progress if we are not aware of our shortcomings, because without this knowledge, there is nothing to work with. So let's quiz Joe Bloggs and if you find yourself identifying with the responses, you may have a little work to do on your self-development… :

1. Being judgmental. I’m always on the look-out for the bad in people so I don't get taken for a ride. You’ve got to know your enemy! And face it, the world is full of rotten people doing rotten things and I want to spot them before they spot me! You can’t trust anyone. I didn’t get to my position without being a good judge of character. I’m an authority on people. And I know when I’m right. If you don’t agree with me, that’s simply because you’re wrong!
2. Disrespectful. From where I stand, this is MY life and so, only MY rights count in MY life and people need to respect that and respect me. I don’t have to respect them, because they’re all rotten. They're either richer than me and think they're better than me and so many of those rich people are conniving ripoff artists, or they're poorer and they can't be trusted either because they're always trying to rip you off, too.
3. Not Being a Good Listener. Who’s not listening now? Didn’t I just say that I don’t have to listen to you? Who are you, anyway? Do you live in my street? I don’t care what unimportant, little thing you have to say. You’re not at my level so how can you have anything to say that’s worth listening to? Go away and stop bothering me!
4. Be interested – not interesting. Who said I’m not interested? I’m interested in the stockmarket, my new car, my next overseas holiday, and my kids' impressive achievements. Ha, you should hear what we did last holidays, and this suit I’m wearing cost me a fortune, and what about my facelift, now there’s something interesting, and let me tell you about the new contract I won all by myself… oh and did I tell you about little Jimmy getting on the swim team… let me tell you about me, me, me because I'm sure I'm much more interesting than you!
5. Respond from Your Heart. Listen, we didn’t get our trendy suits and our highrise offices by listening with our hearts! I respond with my head… if that makes me a cold unemotional fish, tough. I don't care what effect that has on you – you're not my problem. There’s no place in business for ‘hearts’. Home is where the heart is and should stay… did I tell you about my new holiday home, oh, and my new car… now that car has heart!
6. Be truthful. Are you for real? I’m sorry, there’s a time and a place for the truth and you won’t find a time or a place for it in the real world. You can’t go around telling the truth! Nobody tells the truth! Where do you live? Never-Never Land? You certainly don’t live in my street! You want the truth? You’re wasting my time with this drivel.
7. Be helpful. I am helpful. I paid for my secretary's plastic surgery – this is a win-win - now she looks ten years younger and I have someone to impress the clients with when we go out for dinner… of course, this leaves my wife with more time to spend at home with the kids, which is also important – see? I'm not only helpful, I'm considerate.
8. Maintain Your Integrity and Your Dignity. You won’t find a more dignified person than me. I’m rich. I’m successful. I have the proud bearing of a very dignified person and all that gossip about my bad temper and rudeness in board meetings is just jealous talk. And of course our staff can trust me… I didn't actually lie to those people who lost their jobs during the company merger… I just thought it better not to tell the whole story!
9. Go the Extra Mile. I jog every morning – we have big houses in our street, and I jog one extra house length each week... What? That's not what you meant? Well, the extra mile costs time and money… you want I should dip into my profits for someone I don't even know?
10. Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say. You better believe it! I mean it if I tell you I’m having you removed from the building and if you’re not gone within 60 seconds I’m calling security! And don’t run! It’s undignified! Even for you!

Four things you can't recover:

(1) The stone... after the throw.

(2) The word... after it's said.

(3) The occasion... after it's missed.

(4) The time... after it's gone.

Life's too short... we can help the world be a better place if we think about the above before we speak or act.

Terri Levine's Strategic Marketing Workshop

When I sent out the email about my Strategic Marketing workshop yesterday, the office received a lot of questions about the event, so I've summarized these below.

When is it?

Where is it?
Talamore Country Club, 723 Talamore Drive, Ambler, PA

Is this a conference, seminar or workshop?

Well, it's not a formal conference, it's very relaxed with plenty of humor. (I promise you won't be bored!)

Will there be networking opportunities?

Yes - there are plenty of breaks and there's lunch too.

Will I learn anything that will benefit my business?

I will teach you practical marketing strategies that will help you find more clients without spending more money - and I have hundreds of previous delegates that will vouch for that. I guarantee you will leave with pages of action points that will make you more money and quite possibly transform your business.

How much is it again?

The only fee you pay is $150 for my training, your own profitability manual, lunch, and the following bonus items:

Does the Strategic Marketing Workshop apply to any business?

Yes it does - we've had recruitment consultants to carpet cleaners, software manufacturers to swimming pool manufacturers, sales trainers, coaches, authors, consultants, realtors, financial planners, to accountants. Good marketing is about understanding people - whatever the product or service.

Can I attend if I don't meet your criteria?

Yes you can! You just invest a tad more so I know YOU are serious about business growth.

My Goal Is YOUR Success!
Terri Levine, The Guru of Coaching ®

Sunday, April 04, 2010

On March 11th, I ran a one-day event for 39 business owners...

- my most successful event yet. (see some of the testimonials at: http://tinyurl.com/onedayseminar)

Every person there was privy to the marketing strategies that my high-end, fee-paying clients pay thousands of dollars a year for - but these 39 business owners didn't pay a penny as this event was free of charge. (with a $50 donation to the charity I represent)

I made a major decision after that event. I have decided to only run small, more intimate events for the time being.

I'm a victim of my own success. Why? More and more business owners are using my marketing strategies to increase their sales and profitability and word of mouth is making my programs more and more popular.

• One attendee used a strategy to create three new clients worth $48,000.

• Another, $5000 more profit from one idea.

• A third, $51,000, three days after meeting with me.

• A fourth, added triple her client base in 3 weeks.

• And there are dozens more.

SO...

On May 21st in Ambler, PA, I'm doing a more exclusive and intimate event, and asking for a tiny investment and I am giving you:

• Bonus 1: 60 Day Coaching Challenge to get you moving on sales, marketing and internet marketing

• Bonus 2: Building an Extraordinary Business

• Bonus 3: A 45 Minute in Depth Coaching Video with Terri Levine

At this seminar I will show you: How to Increase Your Sales - strategies that really work.

And: How to generate more leads for your business, practically overnight.

To attend you must fulfill criteria:

1. This is NOT for start-ups, failing businesses or people who have ‘a great idea for a business’. It’s for serious business owners with at least 2 years experience who are determined to invest time, effort, energy and money into making their businesses succeed.

2. You have to be doing well – and want to do better – and be creating revenue of at least $150,000 a year.

3. And please don’t even think of requesting a place if you aren’t completely committed to making your business more successful.

If you don't fulfill either criteria, but still want to come, you are welcome at the full ticket price of $550.

There will be a maximum of 50 attendees at each seminar, so we can all get to know each other.

I do these events to introduce you to how I help business owners build more profitable businesses - and you may want to become one of my Private VIP Clients as a result, although there is no obligation or pressure.

If you would like to attend this important seminar May 21st in Ambler, PA, 9:00-5:00pm, please click now to register. http://tinyurl.com/onedayseminar

So, if you want to generate more media coverage for your business, improve your selling skills or discover how generate thousands of new inquiries a month, quickly reserve your seat here:

20 Ways to Find, Sustain and Share Happiness

Sometimes we get so caught up in the stress and pressures of juggling career and family commitments, building our business, networking, studying, budgeting, and so on, that we forget what is important. We forget that our basic birthright is to be happy, and that is such a simple concept that often it slips under our radar.

So let's remember the basics and incorporate some happiness into our daily lives. And if Happiness was a soup, here are the ingredients…

We are all connected, yet we are each unique and have special gifts and talents. We are ALL ‘okay’! We also tend to label everything as right or wrong, good or bad, etc. Shift to the belief that no one is right or wrong, good or bad … they just are and accept that. Doing so will ‘free’ you!

Release concern about others judging you! What is right for you does not have to be right for another. It is easier to be yourself when you stop coming from a place of wondering who or what is judging you!

Don’t try to change or improve others to meet your standards or to believe what you believe. You are not responsible for others in this way – again, free yourself!

Are you unhappy at work, in a relationship, with your appearance, etc? What’s stopping you from changing this? People become stuck because of fear… fear of failing, fear of ridicule, fear of the unknown … Identify your fears and work to overcome them.

What ‘steps’ can you start taking today that will result in how you want things to be? Small steps will still get you to that ‘destination’, but you’ll never get there if you don’t make a start!

Get rid of negative self-beliefs… I’m not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough. If your life depended on finding good things within yourself, you’d find them… start looking!

We fret over everything as if we’re supposed to be perfect in everything we do. We put ourselves down at the slightest imperfection. Well, get over yourself! Everybody makes mistakes – learn from them, let them go, and move on!

Know your values! We have our own sense of integrity and we are happiest when our goals and achievements match our principles. As we move towards the habits that align with our integrity, we feel good about ourselves.

Know, specifically, what makes you feel happiness, otherwise, how do you expect to bring this into your life if you don’t know what it is?

Self-improvement! When we develop ourselves, we eliminate many disbeliefs about ourselves; we stop putting ourselves down; we see possibilities; we feel peaceful, optimistic and joyous; and we have more fun.

When was the last time you laughed at yourself, or at anything? Can’t find your sense of humor? Seek out funny movies, funny books, or read the jokes pages on the web. Start with a chuckle and work your way up!

“Lighten up” is a popular phrase for good reason. We have a tendency to take ourselves, our work, and our relationships too seriously. Some things are serious, but for the rest, keep it in perspective!

Think back to being a child, running around the playground, laughing, catching fireflies, and rolling in the snow. Remember how you felt, how you were silly and didn’t care if anybody looked at you? What would it take to recreate those feelings today?

As we become adults we forget what it’s like to play games - we’re too concerned about how other people will perceive us. What are you afraid of? Has it occurred to you that others may think, “Gosh, I wish I wasn’t so hung-up so I could do that too!”?

Do something completely out of character and childish this week. Go buy a silly toy. One of my clients plays with Mr. Potato Head! Find a way of making a heavy situation become light by asking yourself, “How would I respond to this if I were a child?”

Give other people permission to laugh. Put a clown’s nose on in the car and wave to other people as you drive around. Think of all the ways that you can play games and have fun, and do that with other people you come in contact with everyday.

Identify your Stress triggers! Our fast-paced lives, job pressures, the environment, etc. all lead to an excess of stressors for us. Manage your stress with Meditation, hobbies, exercise, yoga, nature walks, friends, etc.

Don’t say “I’ll be happy if…” or “I’ll be happy when…”. You only have “now” – you cannot live in the future until it becomes your present – your ‘now’. You have no choice – it’s be happy “now” or never!

Finally, don’t put conditions on your happiness! Happiness is a state of mind, regardless of our situation. Happiness is a choice we make. Choose to be happy today!

Exciting New One Day Seminar with Terri Levine

When and Where? Friday, May 21 in Horsham, PA

Discover my secrets at this one-day seminar – guaranteed proven ways that you can use immediately to extract more profit from your business. Get a full day of my time, my training, your own profitability manual, and lunch.

Learn the strategies that are proven to work for all kinds of businesses. My clients range from chiropractors, attorneys, coaches, consultants, authors, manufacturers, technology experts, accountants, etc.

Some of my clients have franchises. Some are independent consultants. Some are business coaches or life coaches. Some own software companies. Some own retail stores. Some are Internet marketers.

It doesn’t matter what business you are in, the information I will share will apply to you.

Does this describe you?

* You own a business that’s doing well, but you know it could do better. You’re utterly intent on taking your business to the next level – fast. You recognize that expert advice, help and mentoring will make it easier for you to achieve your business goals as quickly as you want – but so far, you haven’t found exactly what you need.

* You happily invest time, money and energy making your business the success it deserves to be, but you need help with the strategy. Or you have the strategy but don’t know how to find new customers or enter new markets.

* You work very hard - maybe very long hours – and fear your work/life balance is out of kilter. You look forward to the day when your business will run on autopilot and create profit for you and your family to enjoy.

* You spend far too much time ‘plate-spinning’ – the urgent gets in the way of important – and you’re not always sure which is which.

* You don’t have anyone to discuss ideas with. You can’t ask your staff, suppliers or customers and the phrase ‘it’s lonely at the top’ is familiar.

Where do you go for unbiased advice on how to grow your company and take it to the next level? At this seminar, you’ll meet and exchange ideas with people just like you – all keen to grow their businesses, all frustrated that things just don’t happen fast enough.

Come and join me at my next seminar and see how to improve your marketing and your profits…

Click here to Register Now for just $150! http://tinyurl.com/y9dggc8

Bad marketing kills your profits and costs you clients. Your ‘loyal’ customers defect. And they never come back. Bad marketing lets even inferior competitors steal the business you’ve fought so hard to get.

This seminar could put thousands on your bottom line over the next 12 months.

So why am I charging $150 for a day worth $550 – especially when over 200 previous attendees have found it so valuable?

I do it because it’s my shop window, a way to show how I help you build your business much faster. If you like what you see, maybe you will become one of my exclusive private VIP clients. There’s no obligation, but that’s why I open my doors to all business owners who meet three criteria.

The first 20 tickets at the seminar are $150. Subsequent tickets are $550. You can get your $150 ticket and save $400 by enrolling now. Why not do it right now, while I still have places?

And if you register before April 12 you’ll receive these THREE bonuses (worth $267):

Bonus 1: 60 Day Coaching Challenge to get you moving on sales, marketing and internet marketing
Bonus 2: Building an Extraordinary Business
Bonus 3: A 45 Minute in Depth Coaching Video with Terri Levine

You’re probably sick to death of people promising all the answers to your business problems. I make no such claims. But the 81 VIP clients I work with make more money, have more time and are infinitely more confident about their future – otherwise they wouldn’t keep working with us, year after year. And THEY ALL started by coming to one of these seminars.

Do you qualify for this subsidized seminar? Read more and find out here:

http://ping.fm/lmH0X

If you qualify, I will give you a day that leaves you bubbling with ideas you can put to work the minute you leave. Proven, simple ideas that work no matter what your business is.

You’ll get all my secrets of how I have had super successful businesses in many industries over the past 30 years and how I have coached over 5,000 businesses in 234 industries to do the same. I will show you how I have become a super star business owner – plus give you the secrets of how to get your message across so powerfully that you multiply the sales leads you get – and transform your bottom line.

Click here to Register Now for just $150! http://tinyurl.com/y9dggc8

I hope to meet and talk to you there. If you have any questions – any at all – just give us a call 877-401-6165.

To your business success!
Terri

P.S. The first 20 business owners to register receive a ticket FOR JUST $150. Additional tickets are $550. Register today to save your place. And if you do it right now you’ll receive the THREE Bonuses (worth $297)

P.P.S. The day is subsidized, but not free, to get a high quality of attendees. But I wager you’ll think it’s worth a good $550. In fact, if you don’t agree by lunch break – for any reason or no reason at all – I’ll gladly refund your $150 in full, without question.

What Can Be Changed In Management To Improve Bottom Line Results

By this stage I am probably preaching to the converted, but on the realisation that every year a new, inexperienced generation enters the workforce who face similar challenges to those with managerial aspirations who went before them, this information is still valid.

When change is introduced into the workplace there is often a degree of resistance, anxiety and sometimes even ridicule of the new methodologies. People equate change with difficulty and something to be feared. This is where open communication is so important and it starts right at the very top.

If you don’t have the full support and understanding from those in key management positions, any organizational changes being made are going to be thwart with difficulties. It is up to CEO’s and Presidents to champion the cause and ensure their managerial teams are also in full support, so that it can filter down through the ranks more smoothly.

Here are 5 areas where guidance and training can help:

• Don’t just hand a list of problems and preferred outcomes or objectives to a managerial team and expect them to go ahead and get to work on it. They, too, need guidelines and guidance, reassurance, and training. Many Managers get to where they are through natural progression up the corporate ladder, climbing their way on their years of experience. But this doesn’t mean they know everything they should know about being an effective Manager.

• All the brilliant change plans in the world will fail if those who are responsible for the action have no idea what they are doing and possibly, don’t believe in what they are doing. So the first step is ensuring the managerial teams understand what changes are being made and why, and what outcomes are being sought and why. They then need training in the best methodologies for introducing the new systems to their own departments. This requires a whole set of skills many managers lack, simply because it has not been something they have been taught before. This includes people skills, communication skills, and negotiating skills.

• Even if changes are not being introduced, Managers who want to improve the bottom line results of their departments need these same skills. It is a well known fact that a happy workforce is a productive workforce. Happy workers who enjoy a high morale and feel good about their employer take more pride in their work and wish to see “their” company succeed. They look after the customers better. They take less sick leave. They find more efficient ways of doing things. They participate more. They work harder. This is good news for any company’s bottom line.

• The Manager in charge of this type of workforce is one who knows how to listen to his staff. He respects his staff and their abilities. He asks his staff for their input and promotes a team spirit. He cares about the individuals in his department and realizes that their individual success in a team environment results in success for the company. He knows how to handle trouble-makers and grizzlers and convert them into happy, productive employees. He understands the process of coaching and mentoring those in his care to produce the best results. He is clear with his instructions, and does not play the Dictator role. He does not waste his time looking over shoulders. Instead, he is available for his staff to bring challenges to for discussion and resolution.
• Learning to listen, observe, trust, guide and coach employees is not something that miraculously occurs when somebody is promoted to a Managerial position. It is up to the Company to assist their Managers by providing training for them enabling them to be effective Coach-Mentor-Managers. Too often, when a department is in trouble, blame is laid at the departmental Manager or Supervisor’s door. There is no excuse for a company putting somebody in a position of authority when they are ill equipped to handle it. This will be a recurring problem until organizations realize that managing people is not a natural ability inherited with a managerial title. Resources are available to train Organizational management teams, and often, all it takes is a phone call to put it into action.

When all is said and done, a company’s bottom line relies heavily on the employees who make up the “company”. Miserable, unhappy and poorly trained workers and managers produce miserable results. Happy, well trained workers and managers are more productive and fruitful in their endeavors, creating successful and prosperous companies.

Was I Lucky? By Guest writer, Patric Chan

My story is nothing inspirational compare to those who had gone through extreme adversity to be successful today. There are people who were bankrupt, lost their family, lost their legs or hands, living on the street, etc but risen up to success. I was not in any of these categories; I am a 'regular' guy who was lucky.

First, I was lucky to discover that there are such things as personal development stuff out there when I was young. That is the fastest way to learn.

At the same time, I was also being lied into believing that all of this stuff works too. For instance, when I was doing sales by selling greeting cards from door-to-door last time, I read a motivational book. Problem is, the advice was stupid but I took it without a second thought. The book said that I should be persistence and ignore all of the rejections because I can do it. That's partially true but doesn't apply to everyone.

Now, that concept works but it's stupid because it's teaching me to work hard like a dog than working smart.

By end of the day, I would be very tired physically and mentally. Imagine walking under the hot Sun selling cards to passerby and being ignored and sometimes, being scolded. Then continue doing that because "I can". Now, how smart is that success strategy?

I was lucky to meet direct and indirect mentors in my life. Two people that I have learned immensely from are Anthony Robbins and Robert Kiyosaki when I was young.

I'm talking about total immersion. I've bought almost all of their books/courses even when I wasn't having a lot of money at that time and attended their seminars when I can afford.

As you can tell by now, there's no ONE SECRET to success. There are plenty of them.

Another of my success secret, which is known by most people but they're just plain ignorant or egoistic to admit or accept is this-- to learn from others. I understand the value of learning from other people and even if I already knew the answer, I will still seek for more wisdom,

If you come to my house, you'll see books and courses about Law of Attraction because I'm doing my best to learn this success principle.

For instance, I already know what Robert Kiyosaki is going to teach again in his seminar but I'll still try to attend. He could be telling the story of his Rich Dad for the 10th times, but throughout the seminar, I will bring home at least one value that will worth more than 10 times my investment.

To me, I wasn't looking for the magic pill when I’m learning - I'm just looking for the 'Aha' moment. When I go through programs, instead of thinking, “is this program worth it”, my mind is only focus to get one value. Let's say I spend $15 for a book and I don't learn anything except for getting one value, it's definitely worth more than $15 because it'll be with me forever. $15 will be gone tomorrow.

I was lucky to understand about 'abundance' many years ago. Abundance work in many forms - especially, when it comes to obtaining wisdom. No matter how much you share your knowledge, it won't deplete. It doesn't mean that if you share 50%, then you'll only have 50% left. As a matter of fact, it'll increase from 100% to 110% or more because when you share, you'll uncover new information. At the same time, when you're learning, don't be despair if you feel like you're not getting anything from a course, otherwise, you're living in a scarcity world of greed.

I was lucky to fail many times in my life. This also has to do with over-absorption of personal development stuff that doesn't work (smile)

Because I was able to fail many times, I can afford to get back into the game again. I'm not talking of major failures like bankruptcy and stuff like that... thank God I don't have to go through those. Remember, I'm a regular guy like you and the rest of the people in the world. A regular guy who was lucky enough to be where I am today.

There's a saying that there is no such thing as failure but a new learning curve - I like that thought but that's more like 'thinking positive', you know. If you keep on doing this 'positive thinking' thingy, it might work for you well or you can also lose it all if your mind's not strong enough. That's your call.

I was able to realize that failure is just PART OF THE GAME of success. You can't win all the time. You have to lose once in a while and get that into your brain. Each time Michael Jordan makes a shot to the basket, it’s not always an accurate shot. Or when Tiger Woods hits the ball, it doesn’t always go in the hole. They 'lose' too but at the end of the day, they win.

I was also lucky to be ridiculed and mocked.

I have a dream - to become a millionaire before 30. They laugh at me, of course not in my face. When I attend personal improvement seminars, attendees who are already successful don't seem to enjoy my company because they don't see the benefit of mixing with a 'loser'. Some even brushed me away. Well, I achieved my dream many years before I reach 30.

When I said I want to buy a big car, they ask me not to dream too much because I was just riding a motorcycle that time. Look who’s laughing now.

People tend to ridicule you when you're not like them because they don't have the potential to achieve what you want to achieve - some don't even dare to dream. Let them do that to you and the best part is when you can prove them wrong. Not because you're trying to feed your own ego, but be kind to inspire them of possibilities.

I was lucky.

Last chance: Few seats left for March 11 special event with Terri Levine:

The special event with Terri Levine is just next week… this is your last chance to nab one of the few remaining seats.

This one day seminar is for business owners who may be doing well already, but want to do better and know how to keep it up in any kind of economy. And it is FREE… and includes lunch!

It is also a fundraiser for Tabitha, a very, very sick girl who needs our help, so while there is absolutely no charge for the seminar, we are asking for a $50 contribution for Tabitha.

Grab one of the last seats here:
http://ping.fm/CERzz

Terri Levine is a world renowned business coach, speaker and seminar presenter who is known for being good at teaching what she knows so you can apply it immediately. She has solid experience in sales, marketing, public relations and marketing your business on the web.

Will this seminar help your business? Here's just a sampling from some previous participants who Terri has helped:

• Recent attendee Jemila Williams said, "Two hours with Terri turned into an additional $15,000 of business."
• Recent attendee Gail Shafer, said, "One day with Terri Levine turned into an additional $22,000 of business."
• Paul Patrick said, "I have come away with new ideas and simple strategies that won't cost me money that I know will generate additional income."
• Barbara Evans said, "One idea I got from Terri instantly saved a large client I was about to lose."
• Randy Sanja said, "Just one idea I took from Terri will generate at least 10 new customers this week."

Want to join them? Better be quick then as there are only a few seats left.

This is your last chance to learn modern strategies that will boost your business results and do a good deed for a young lady who needs your help at the same time. This is what we call a real win-win!

Please RSVP...

You probably get invited to business seminars all the time.

Some make outrageous claims while others just look boring. Some are 'get rich quick' while others are for beginners.

This one is different. It's for existing business owners who are doing well, but want to do better.
And it's free. We ask for a $50 contribution to a sick girl who needs our help and we include lunch as well. Your only investment is one day out of the office, spending time working ON your business, rather than IN your business.
http://ping.fm/tiOez

It's practical, it's results-orientated and it's run by me and I have solid expertise in sales, marketing, public relations and marketing your business on the web. And I am good at teaching what I know so that you can apply the information to your business the next day.

The only claim I make is that it will stimulate your thinking and help you improve your marketing. And I have evidence from thousands of previous attendees to back that up.

Recent attendee Jemila Williams said, "Two hours with Terri turned into an additional $15,000 of business."

You might think there's a catch as we aren't charging you for the day and giving you training and lunch and asking only for a $50 charitable contribution. There is. You will have the opportunity to find out what we do and audition me and see if you might want to apply to be on of my VIP clients. No pressure, zero selling and nothing to invest in at all.

Even if you do nothing else with us, you will discover, as thousands of business owners have before you, that this day is worth a lot to your business - possibly thousands of dollars in additional sales.

This invitation is going out to 43,762 business owners, but not all will qualify for a free place.

Two Hours with Terri Levine turned into an additional $15,000 of business

"Two hours with Terri Levine turned into an additional $15,000 of business."

- JEMILA WILLIAMS (TERRI LEVINE VIP PRIVATE CLIENT)

Imagine - being able to find new customers with ease - regardless of the economy!

You can find out to do this at a special free one-day seminar and discover ways to make your business more profitable in the next 12 months

For all Business Owners:

You're busy, so I'll get straight to the point.

The success of your business is not about just having a great product; it's all about being able to market that product at the most profitable price, to the largest number of people.

If your marketing is bad, ineffective or downright non-existent, then you will never be as successful as you could be.

Bad marketing costs you money and you will lose customers to your competitors.
When you don't market your company well, inferior competitors overtake you, new entrants to the market erode your share and your 'loyal' customers shop elsewhere.

I'm sure you've heard a lot of people say that they have all the answers to your business problems. Well, I certainly don't have all the answers, but the 82 businesses I work with every month make more money, have more time and have more confidence in the future of their business than they ever did before.

This is your invitation to a free one-day seminar where I can help you take the first steps to helping you do the same.

Not everyone can attend - there are three criteria to meet - and only you can tell us whether you qualify. Essentially, don't even think of requesting a place if you aren't completely committed to making your business more successful.

This is not for start-ups, failing businesses or people 'with an idea for a business'. It's for serious business owners who are doing well but want to do better. Business owners who are willing to invest time, effort, energy and money into making their business successful.

If you qualify for a free ticket, I have an information-rich day lined up for you...

I'm Terri Levine . I'll show you how to communicate your message more effectively so that you can increase the number of great prospects you receive and therefore improve your bottom-line. It's made me and my company tons and tons of money over the years. I'll show you how you can attract more prospects than ever before without spending a dime, how to convert the right prospects without selling, how to leverage client relationships and how to retain customers long term.

Recent attendee Gail Shafer, said, "One day with Terri Levine turned into an additional $22,000 of business."

Paul Patrick said, "I have come away with new ideas and simple strategies that won't cost me money that I know will generate additional income."

Barbara Evans said, "One idea I got from Terri instantly saved a large client I was about to lose."

Randy Sanja said, "Just one idea I took from Terri will generate at least 10 new customers this week."

If this seminar could be worth thousands to your business over the next twelve months, why do I charge nothing for it, especially when it has proven so valuable to thousands of previous attendees?

It's because I am using the money to support a girl who needs our help with her serious medical condition. So, you get me for a full day with all my ideas as well as a nice lunch and you contribute a tiny amount making a charitable contribution.

Also, this is my shop window, my way of showing you - at no cost to you whatsoever - how I can help you build your business more rapidly.

If you like what you see, perhaps you will become one of my exclusive VIP private clients. There's no obligation of course, but that's why I open my doors to all business owners who meet the criteria, just for a tiny donation of $50 including lunch.

You can obtain a free ticket by now by going to: http://www.terrilevine.com/gifts/freeonedayconference

Your free ticket is available to you if you meet certain criteria:

• You are the owner/director of the business (not an employee)
• You have been in business for at least two years

Nine of the strategies you will learn from this one-day seminar are:

• How to get more leads - targeted, specific and quality prospects
• The mistakes most business owners make - and how to fix them. If you are making even one of these mistakes you are losing your company money every day.
• How to sell at prices higher than your competition - even if your industry is highly competitive I'll show you pricing strategies that allow you to enjoy higher margins so that you'll NEVER cut your prices again.
• The shocking truth about social media and how to make the decision whether it's of value to your business
• How to get more inquiries and make more sales - how to generate a constant flow of new customers who already want what you have to sell - and how to automate that process so that it happens 365 days a year.
• Why your brochure doesn't work - and your marketing literature is under-selling what you do and is costing you money, rather than making you money
• Why your advertising isn't working as well as it used to and what to do about it.
• How to immediately improve the number of people who buy from you
• How to get into the minds of your customers so you know exactly what they want to buy from you and how they want you to sell it to them.

This seminar is for all types of business owner, regardless of sector, industry or profession or whether you are selling B2B or B2C. Our clients range from recruitment to dentists, coaches, sales professionals, accountants to manufacturers.

Over 4872 business have benefited from my advice - and you can have a taster, free of charge.

You can obtain a free ticket now by going to: http://www.terrilevine.com/gifts/freeonedayconference

The seminar is run by Comprehensive Coaching, a company that works with a select number of private VIP clients to help them make their marketing more successful and as a result grow their business faster and more profitably.

If you have a business that's doing well - but could do better...or you work long hours and don't spend enough time with your family...or you don't have someone to discuss ideas with...or you are looking for new ideas for your business, then come along and find out how we can help you.

Does this describe you?

You are the owner of a business that's doing well, but you know it could do better - you know there's potential for growth. However you don't have the strategies to take your business to the next level. You recognize that expert advice, help and mentoring will make it easier for you to achieve your business goals.

You are willing to invest time, money and energy in making your business the success it deserves to be, but you need help with the strategy - or perhaps you have the strategy but not the marketing knowledge to find new customers or move into new markets.

You work very hard and probably very long hours and as a result your work/life balance is out of kilter. You look forward to the day when your business can run on auto-pilot and create profit for you and your family to enjoy.

You don't have anyone to discuss ideas with. You can't consult with your staff, suppliers or customers and the phrase 'it's lonely at the top' is familiar. Where do you go for unbiased advice on how to grow your company and take it to its next level of development?

At this seminar you'll be part of a group of like-minded individuals, all keen to grow their business.

Come and join us at our next seminar and discover how to improve your marketing - and your bottom line. You can obtain a free ticket right now  http://www.terrilevine.com/gifts/freeonedayconference

How's Your Business Doing?

You probably get invited to business seminars all the time.

Some make outrageous claims while others just look boring. Some are 'get rich quick' while others are for beginners.

This one is different. It's for existing business owners who are doing well, but want to do better.

And it's free. You even get lunch... you simply make a contribution of $50 for a young girl in the Philadelphia area suffering with RSD - her name is Tabitha. So you do something good for another and you let me help you. Only come IF you can fulfil three simple criteria - make the contribution at: http://ping.fm/55AYR

Your only investment is one day out of the office, spending time working ON your business, rather than IN your business.

It's practical, it's results-orientated and it's run by me, someone who has solid expertise in my areas - sales, marketing, public relations and marketing your business on the web. And I am good at teaching what I know so that you can apply the information to your business the next day.

The only claim I make is that it will stimulate your thinking and help you improve your marketing. And I have evidence from thousands of previous attendees to back that up.

Recent attendee Josh Stein, said, "One day with Terri Levine turned into an additional $12,000 of business."

Barbara Sang said, "I left the event with new tools and strategies and put one in place the next morning resulting in $3,942.59 in sales in one hour"

Sarah Kenney said, "One idea has already generated an extra $5000."

Jemila Wiliams said, "Just one hour with Terri resulted in $15,000 in my pocket from just one hour and one idea."

You might think there's a catch as we aren't charging you for the day. There is. You will be trying me and my company on and auditioning us and we'll be auditioning you as we are going to work with a few more businesses this year. A fair swap, I feel, for a day of first-class business information.

Even if you do nothing else with us, you will discover, as thousands of business owners have before you, that this day is worth a lot to your business - possibly thousands of dollars in additional sales.

I'm running it once on March 11, 2009 at Talamore Country Club in Horsham PA.

This invitation is going out to 73,254 business owners, but not all will qualify for a free place.

Why Now Might Just be the Best Time to Start a Business

While businesses, large and small, around the world are still putting workers off, some continue to struggle on with limited numbers, too afraid to start hiring again just in case the worst is not over. Businesses are holding themselves back through fear. While this might buy them time until they are really sure the "recession" is over and it is safe to reinvest in their businesses and start hiring again, at the same time it is their very hesitancy that is holding back global recovery.
Likewise, entrepreneurial spirits are holding off starting their own businesses for the same reasons, or they feel the types of businesses they want to start are not appropriate at this point in time. Maybe they want the odds stacked more in their favor and are waiting for a sign that the crisis over and the day of the long lunch and luxury living is back.

This is no reason not to follow your dream and start your own business and lack of support or start up funds is no excuse given the number of government agencies lining up to help small businesses get going.

If this is your situation, why not consider what you might be able to do to your business idea to make it work right now. Maybe you can consider a different business, or modify existing ideas. Here are some examples of what has been achieved in the past during difficult times:

Towards the end of the Great Depression, two friends started Hewlett-Packard with just $538 and a lot of determination. During the 1957 recession, Jay Pritzker bought a small motel opposite the LA international airport… that was the beginning of what we now know as the Hyatt Hotel Chain. Southwest Airlines (US) launched itself in 1971 despite doom and gloom predictions at the time and found its niche by offering cheaper, no frill flights – it started off just serving 3 cities in Texas – today it services 66. And there are many other well known brands who started life during a recession or other difficult times and are strong, household names today, such as Johnson & Johnson.

People still need bandaids when times are tough. People still need to fly but maybe don't need all the amenities and are happy to save money on a no frills flight. Travellers still need a place to stay.

What do people need that you can provide? Think of an idea whose time has come. Or maybe you can modify an existing idea.

The point is if you keep waiting for the perfect time to start your own business, it may never come and you will have wasted precious time. Small business is the backbone of any country. Don't wait for large corporations to create positive changes in our economies – be the change you want to see in the world.

Or maybe you are hesitating because you don't know how to market and promote your business? There are some great marketing programs in the world to help people like you then… and we happen to have one of them. You can even try before you buy with our program… why not take it for a 30 day test drive? Check it out here: http://ping.fm/Dpy5P

To your marketing success,
Terri

Best Days to Send Press Releases

A question I am often asked is "what is the best day to send a press release?"

When you consider journos are always on the prowl for a good story, any day could be a good day to send out a press release, however, the obvious answer is if your story relates to an event with a deadline, then NOW is the best time to send the press release.

Having said that you should always send your releases in plenty of time – never leave it to the last minute because there are no guarantees your release will be picked up by a certain time, if at all.

Don't think you can get your story priority listing simply by slapping "Urgent" in the subject. Your release may be urgent to you but be totally irrelevant and unimportant to the editors and journalists reviewing it. Some online press release sites require payment of a fee if you want your Press Release published by a certain date, otherwise if you have chosen the free option, it will sit in a queue and may, or may not, be published.

Of course, a bit of research will produce a personal list of your favorite newspapers and magazine editors to whom you can email your press releases direct. This will ensure your preferred media sees your release but it doesn't guarantee publishing. Realize editors receive hundreds of releases every day, most of which are total rubbish and pure promotion and advertising and which end up in the bin.

But I digress… you want to know the best days to send out a press release. Well, I always use Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Why? Common sense really. Mondays are always hectic because it is the start of the week. New mail and email vie for attention and can easily be overlooked. Busy editors don't have time to read everything – if the headline or opening sentence doesn't grab them, it will go straight in the bin. Friday are also hectic – they have to finish outstanding tasks before the weekend, and many have their minds on the weekend.

I never recommend sending press releases out over the weekend – there is no guarantee anybody will read it – it is the weekend after all – or who will read it or where it will end up.

So that's it – Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday are my days of choice. As for time of day to send them, the earlier the better, obviously, specially if you want it printed sooner rather than later. By sending earlier in the day you give your release the best chance of being read that day by the right editor or journalist and if they want more information, they have the afternoon to get it.

Mind you, having said this, I have sent out a press release on a Monday night after business hours and it was still published. I suspect this has more to do with content than good luck, which brings me to my last point…

The best way to ensure your press release will be published, regardless of when you send it out, is to ensure it meets the editorial guidelines of the individual magazines and papers to which you are sending. A common requirement is that your press release be newsworthy – it should not be self-promotional advertising or marketing.

You might consider it news that your business has created a new product and you are offering it for half price for the next two weeks but to everybody else that is pure advertising. Really it is a waste of time submitting such a release and it doesn't matter which day you send that type of press release – it will never be published.

If you need help with marketing your business and press releases are just one of your challenges, our marketing program is tailor made for you… you can even take it for a test drive: http://ping.fm/i0qOS

Kick Start Your Marketing

The three most important start up marketing tools you need to get and keep new customers are:

1. In person contact with your customers/clients.
2. Always follow up (and don't forget letters and gifts for special clients.)
3. Final follow up with a phone call.

Of course, the best marketing strategies in the world will not work for you if your product and service is not up to scratch – you must offer quality.

Your start-up marketing will include:

1. Research
2. Talking to potential clients.
3. Following up.
4. Systems for follow thru, QA and customer service.
5. Post-sale follow up systems.

What's the Best Type of Advertising for Small Biz?

The type of advertising that is really effective for small business is known as Direct Response Marketing. This technique serves two useful purposes. It targets your ideal client and requires them to take some form of action NOW, such as buy something NOW (by a deadline), make contact for more information (and get a bonus for doing so), make a donation, or some other form of action.

This technique is great because it also provides statistical information to enable you to know which ad format works best, which form of media, etc. In turn, this enables you to tweak and hone your ad until it works perfectly. You can also grow your database by collecting (with their permission) email addresses, phone numbers, and so on. No more wasted dollars on advertising that doesn't work and an easy way to grow your list, all in one.

Naturally, to really work, you MUST know who your target audience is. This type of advertising is not something you waste on the public at large. Place your ad where your ideal clients are likely to read it. If your ideal client is an outdoors type into hiking, hunting and fishing, you'd be wasting your time placing an ad in "Good Housekeeping" magazine. Also don't waste a brilliant direct response campaign on something ordinary and everyday. Your offer must be extraordinary.

A direct response advertisement, as with other advertisements, requires a catchy headline that will stop people and make them read more. The body will describe the benefits and it will finish with required action the reader takes next.

Compare this with a normal advert that displays little more than a company logo, a brief "aren't we great" type message and maybe a phone number. It doesn't require the reader to take any action or make any response. The most popular advertising in this area is by companies who want to establish brand image or keep their company "in your face". Both have benefits for their specific purposes – think of the large insurance companies and brands like Coke cola. For small businesses and one man operations, however, this type of advertising would be a waste of money.

How Not to Become a Marketing White Pointer

You may be wondering what marketing has to do with "Jaws". Plenty, if your customer hunting methods make you more of man-eater than a man-helper. Let me explain.

A common mistake businesses (this includes small businesses and SOHOs) make is to market desperately and ruthlessly in their attempt to attract new customers. You see their large advertisements with a large color photo of themselves and a wide toothy smile or an expression worthy of your college professor. Next to this is a description of how great they are, how long they've been in business, where they were educated, how great their service is, and so on.

I don't know about you but I'd have thought this type of self-promotion was more at home in the dating columns because if I'm looking for a handyman to clear up the fall leaves in my garden, I'm looking for someone who advertises that they have a leaf blower that will clean my garden saving me time and money as opposed to how clever they think they are.

Lose the bite: You are selling your service or product, not yourself. Remember to focus on what your customer wants and needs – write about the benefits of your service/product and how it helps them. Your customers don't care if your widget is brand new and polka dotted – they want to know how it will improve their lives, save them time or money, etc.

Another bad habit of white pointer marketers is putting the focus on themselves. Sure, you want to sell stuff because making money is what it is all about… but if you are focused on yourself and not your customers, why should they be interested in doing business with you?

Lose the bite: When you're marketing are you more interested in yourself or your customer? A white pointer is interested only in making money. Sure, they believe in providing excellent customer service – but only because it might make them more money – they don't really care about the customer. They look like they're doing all the right things but their motives are self-serving, bit like the white pointer waiting for the baby seals to fatten up so they have more meat on them when they eat them! You need to focus on your customers because you really do want to help them and it is this honest focus on servicing their needs that will attract them back to you time and time again.

A more serious habit of white pointer marketers is their propensity for stretching the truth or disguising less satisfactory aspects of their product or service in a way that fools the customer into thinking the product is X when it is really Y.

Lose the bite: If your product or service is as good as you believe it is, it will sell itself and it will do so more easily if you present it in an open and honest manner. Think of the new FTC rules… you can't use a testimonial now that presents what could be an outlandish claim without also including a disclaimer that says the results are not typical.

The moral to this article is success lies in focusing on your customer and not on yourself and the more successful you are at doing this, the more you will benefit.

8 Ways You Scare Away Your Readers

Some bloggers write authentically, straight from the heart; some write eloquently with a Thesaurus open on their lap; some write with the aim to dazzle with their witty turn of phrase, and others send you to sleep.

But you know what? Doesn't matter what style bloggers aim for… certain bloggers are successful and some are not and it has nothing to do with their vocabulary, turn of phrase, witty repartee, or subject matter… in many instances, it comes down to personality. That's right. It can be as simple as "do I like this person, or not?"

Now think about certain personalities that grate on your nerves or you just don't like their style… imagine them writing to you… imagine them blogging. Or maybe you suspect you might be one of these bloggers, or maybe you are not sure.

To lessen the confusion, here are 8 ways you may be frightening your readers away:

1. Yawn! You send them to sleep. You are so boring you send insomniacs to sleep! You write in a boring manner and/or you 'waffle'. Nobody has time to read a whole page of something that could have been conveyed in one sentence. Your readers are bombarded daily with a plethora of emails, blogs and instant messages, some of which are much more interesting than your offering. If your writing is dull and boring it is going to get lost in the abundant competition.
What to do: UP the mood. Be zippy and creative. Make your writing informative and fun. Use active voice, not passive voice, and if you don't understand that, Google the terms plus "grammar" and get a quick online lesson! Your writing must entertain, inform and motivate because people are too busy to waste time reading boring rubbish that leads them nowhere.

2. You are "full of it". Do you think all your readers are gullible or stupid? Do you not realize they can see through your outrageous claims and statements and this is the hugest turn-off of the century for them?
What to do: It's time to be honest. Recently there have been too many businesses ripping people off with lies… don't join them if you want to be successful. People can spot a phony a mile away.

3. You are "so" important that only your voice counts! Hmmm…if the good news is there is a time and a place for everything, the bad news is there is never a time or place for arrogance. Your readers could care less how clever or important you are… they just want to know how you can help them.
What to do: Stop trying to prove how important you think you are. Nobody likes or trusts a "big head". Your focus should be on your customer's needs and wants and not on yourself.

4. Not only are you arrogant, you're heavy-handed. Pushy, pushy, pushy! You are overbearing and full of self-importance and it comes across loud and clear in your copy which is pure heavy-sell in nature..
What to do: Nobody likes a pushy salesman. You may know all there is to know about your subject but instead of pushing how fantastic and clever you or your product is, how about sharing your knowledge with your readers and let them decide if it is right for them and if so, how far they want to take it. Don't shove it down their throats.

5. You are trying too hard to impress. This harks back to trying to be too clever with fancy words and phrases. Do you want people to think, "Wow, what a fancy vocabulary… too fancy for me!"or "Wow, this person knows a lot and is prepared to share it with me so I want to follow them!"?
What to do: Don't use jargon or "buzz words" in an attempt to impress. Keep it "real". Be honest and transparent and trustworthy if you want your customers to trust you and take it seriously. If your service or product is as good as you say it is, you don't have to bend over backwards to prove it – it will prove itself.

6. Oops, Wrong Market! Are you wasting words and effort on an audience who could care less? Have you attracted a readership with one line of thought only to switch on them halfway?
What to do: Aiming your blog/marketing message to all and sundry is like shooting in the dark. You can't hit anything because you can't take aim and you can't take aim because it's black and you can't see. Don't target your marketing willy-nilly – take aim and fire with accuracy.

7. You're shallow and can't follow through. You start off well with wisdom to share but after a few months you have less wisdom to share… folks aren’t buying and when the going gets tough you get going… in the other direction.
What to do: Why waste anybody's time? Rome wasn't built overnight – sorry, tired saying, but still true. Either leave or re-focus. Realize you don't just have to rely on your blog to promote your business – there is other social media networking, articles, joint ventures… research your product or service. You must have believed in it once to have started this!

8. Not Taking Care… If you have been reading that correct spelling and grammar doesn't matter, then you are reading the hard-sell of an uneducated person desperate to make a sale to someone he thinks he can fool. Let me repeat, people are not stupid but they may think you are if you cannot spell!
What to do: Spell check and review your writing before posting. The odd mistake folks will forgive – but not regular frequent errors – that will just make you look stupid and nobody will trust you or what you have to say.

Planning for 2010

With the advent of social media networking, some of the more traditional marketing methods are being left by the wayside as more and more businesses find interactive communication with their customers more financially viable and much more effective.

From 2010 onwards, marketing is taking on a personal role in that we are getting up close and personal with our customers. Compare Yellow Pages listings or newspaper advertising with Facebook and Twitter. The predicted trend for 2010 is to create relationships with your customers through social media networking – growing your list through sites such as twitter and Facebook, just to name two.

There are two trains of thought regarding social media marketing. There are those who believe in using it for business and marketing, and those who want to treat it much like a virtual water cooler around which to gossip (although why you'd want to replace face to face, meaningful interaction with other humans with anonymous, distant internet messaging and waste time just chatting for the sake of chatting, I don't know.)

There are those who say you must establish close relationships with would-be customers first before marketing to them, and those who are more upfront with their intentions. Personally, I know which side of the fence I'm on. I believe in being transparent and totally honest right from the start. I don't see anything honest and real in pretending to want to get to know and be friends with a whole bunch of strangers just so I can sneak up on them later somehow and hit them with marketing. That's not my style and my techniques continue to bring in interest to my websites and services so I must be doing something right.

Having said that, there are people who may be more responsive after getting to know me first. So, in order to cater to everybody and their "preferences", I combine marketing with chit chat and find it is the combination of the two that works very well.

Of course, when I think modern marketing, I'm not just thinking the likes of Twitter and Facebook… marketing to mobiles via SMS is not new but it is becoming more popular. Businesses have been using it to send their customers reminders and invitations but more and more businesses are using it to send advertising, which you can opt out of if you find it annoying, and let's face it, with all the spam we face in our email, most of us definitely do not want it clogging up our mobile phones!

However, it is a useful method to keep your customers up to date with your events and new offerings and something you can consider – but make sure you have their permission first and keep your messages short.

We're keeping on keeping on with loyalty programs for our customers in 2010 as a proven marketing process that not only attracts new customers but is an excellent method of retaining existing customers.

Apart from that we need to keep in mind that after the recent financial crisis, we are marketing to a group of savvier customers who want value for their dollar and don't want their time wasted on frivolous or irrelevant marketing. Dishonest marketing or advertising that hides the whole truth will not go down with 2010's audience. People are fed up with deceit. So in 2010 we are keeping it real!

We are also marketing to another generation who are more interested in products and services that are environmentally friendly. Just research the number of articles alone on the internet about greening your office and you'll see what I mean.

As always, it comes down to knowing your target market and keeping up with trends.

Happy marketing,
Terri
